Engineering Inspector in CNC machine shop
Apsley Precision Engineering Ltd supply high quality machined components into the Defence, Pharmaceutical, Medical and Aerospace Industries. We hold AS9100 and ISO9001 certification and are looking for a new member of staff to join our Inspection Department following investment and business growth. Quality Inspector
We are seeking an additional member of staff in our Inspection Department, who would ideally have served as an inspector, or is looking to move into an inspection position from a similar position within a manufacturing company. Training will be provided in all aspects of the job, if required.
The Candidate:
The ideal candidate will have:
1. Ideally served an apprenticeship or have the equivalent number of years experience.
2. Proven inspection experience in a machine shop environment.
3. Ability to use CMM and Shadowgraph machines, plus precision inspection equipment.
4. Ability to read and interpret mechanical documents and drawings.
5. Ability to report to management on production issues and address these issues with production staff and advise on the remedial actions required.
6. Good communication skills.
7. Proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office packages.
8. A comprehensive knowledge of engineering processes, particularly precision machining, as well as an understanding of sheet metalwork, fabrication & welding, heat treatment, and electro-plating.
The Role Involves:
1. Programming and operation of Aberlink CMM.
2. First off & stage inspection.
3. Final inspection.
4. Compiling inspection reports to customer's requirements including FAIR's.
5. Involvement in maintaining the calibration system.
6. The use of Keyence vision and shadowgraph machines and all other engineering inspection equipment.
7. Checking manufacturing documentation for accuracy with full internal and external traceability.
8. Ability to read, interpret and, where required, offer guidance on engineering drawings.
9. Working in line with AS9100 and ISO 9001 quality procedures.
10. Communication with customers and suppliers regarding quality issues.
11. Liaising with the Chief Inspector to ensure work going through the department is completed in a timely and efficient manner to meet both customer & company targets.
12. Non-conformance investigations and reporting.
The Package:
1. Rate: Based on experience, reflecting the experience and skill set of the applicant. Junior applicants can apply and training will be provided.
2. Working hours: 40 hrs per week, Monday-Friday. Hours can be reviewed after the probation period.
3. Position: Full Time, overtime paid at 1 1/3 for the first 10 hrs then 1 ½ thereafter, per week.
4. Holiday: 5.6 weeks holiday with additional days accrued with service.
