We are excited to be able to advertise for Band 5 Mental Health Nurses to join the team on The Orchard, Lancaster.
The Orchard is a stand-alone unit based in Lancaster. It is an 18 bedded unit that specialises in the assessment and treatment of mental health conditions. This enables people to return to their communities, and allows them to regain their independence.
We are looking for caring, empathetic, enthusiastic individuals who have a passion to improve the lives of our patients. These roles will be to provide care and support to patients who require mental health interventions, guidance or monitoring.
As a staff nurse you will work alongside the multi-disciplinary team to provide a high standard of care to those individuals who are within the most acute phase of illness ensuring that all aspects of care are delivered. You will need effective communication skills and will be required to take on the roles of shift leader and named nurse.
You will be regularly supported and supervised by a more senior member of staff and a preceptorship is available if required.
We are committed to staff development and provide encouragement and support to staff to continue their lifelong learning.
The successful post holder will be expected to work shifts covering 24 hours, seven days a week on a full time basis.

The bonus is only available for people who are not currently employed (or who have not been employed in the last 12 months) by any NHS provider trust in the Lancashire & South Cumbria Integrated Care System in a like-for-like role e.g. a Band 5 Registered Mental Health Nurse at another Trust in the LSC ICS would not be eligible for the bonus if moving to a Band 5 Registered Mental Health Nurse role at LSCFT. Bank only workers for Lancashire and South Cumbria NHS Foundation Trust are eligible for the scheme if they have not held a substantive role in Lancashire & South Cumbria Integrated Care System in the last 12 months (subject to all other terms and conditions being met). These incentives are subject to recovery clauses within the first 6 months of employment. This bonus is applicable from 1st July 2024 - 31st October 2024.
The £3k Welcome Bonus package is designed to attract and retain the very best staff in post. The amount a new starter would receive is shown in the Welcome Bonus Payment Schedule below:
o £500 Month 2
o £500 after 6 months of employment (counted from start date with LSCFT)
o £1000 after 12 months
o £1000 after 24 months
PLEASE NOTE: This bonus scheme is subject to a Repayment Clause should the post holder leave this role within 6 months of commencing employment.
