Location: Stirling Campus The Post Information Support encompasses the physical and digital library and archive services for the University community. The team plays an essential role in providing support to our staff and students, so that they can fully utilise the resources and services in support of their studies, research or work. The University Archives is responsible for the preservation, management and provision of access to a range of archival collections which support teaching and research across the university and the wider research community. The University Archives is responsible for the operation of the ScanStudio, a state-of-the-art digitisation facility located in the library which provides the university with the capacity to provide digital access to its archive collections. The Digitisation Assistant(s) will carry out a programme of project-based digitisation work under the supervision of the University Archivist. The postholder(s) will work to project deadlines, managing workloads and delivering excellent customer service to a range of library users including depositors of archive collections and researchers (both internal and external). Description of Duties Undertake the digitisation of material from the university archive collections, carrying out all of the stages in the process which include: Preparation of items for digitisation (cleaning, sorting, arrangement, numbering) Digitisation of items using the ScanStudio Creation of preservation copy tif files and pdf files Creation of access copy jpgs (batch conversion of digitised material) Support the provision of access to digitised material: Provide links to digitised items from the university archives online catalogue Prepare digitised material for use with data visualisation tools (including Google maps and Storymaps) and for upload to the University Archives JSTOR collection Carry out copying orders from researchers Essential Criteria Educated to Standard Grade (or equivalent) level, including English and Mathematics Experience of handling archival material through research and/or volunteering projects Experience of using digital tools, such as Microsoft 365 (including Teams, SharePoint, Forms, Outlook, Office and others) Team worker with a proven track record of working within a team environment For further information, including a full description of duties, essential criteria and details on how to apply, please see Vacancy details | University of Stirling £22,681 to £24,533 per annum (pro-rata) (Grade 4)
