Job Description:
Are you passionate about helping vulnerable children reach their academic milestones? Are you looking for a new challenge this term?
A warm and welcoming Specialist school in Wokingham is looking for a committed Mental Health Assistant to join their team of staff for a September start!
The successful Mental Health Assistant will be joining a team that places a high importance on ensuring that all students are cared for and feel included. You will have the advantage of joining a positive environment with a supportive team of staff who all share the same goal of ensuring their students are getting the most out of their education.
The role involves providing support to children with various learning disabilities, including some students diagnosed with ASD. You will facilitate a safe and engaging environment to help them maximize their learning.
You will have the opportunity to support a student on a 1:1 basis and may also support students in small group settings, helping them access their learning in ways they may not have been able to before.
As a Mental Health Assistant, you will help these children reach their academic and personal goals by encouraging involvement in the classroom and fostering independence.
Your responsibilities will include supporting the students and assisting the class teacher to ensure the classroom runs smoothly. This will entail helping to set up for lessons, clear up after lessons, and assist with outdoor activities such as PE or other outdoor learning.
To be a successful Mental Health Assistant, you should have experience working in a classroom setting or with children who struggle with learning difficulties. A positive attitude and a passion for making a difference are essential.
This is a great opportunity for psychology graduates looking to expand their experience working with children or aspiring educational psychologists or ASD specialists. Those with a background in art, music, or sports are also welcome to apply.
