A leading specialist in heavy lift and multimodal logistics is looking for a highly experienced Marine Project Engineer to join their engineering team. In this technically demanding and rewarding role, you will take responsibility for marine engineering activities including load-outs, ballast operations, structural design, and sea-fastening for high-profile projects across the UK, Europe, and globally.
This position offers the chance to work on some of the most complex and large-scale marine logistics and transportation challenges in the infrastructure, offshore renewables, defence, and energy sectors.

Role Overview
You will lead the development and execution of engineering documentation and technical solutions for complex marine projects, acting as the main technical focal point for both internal teams and clients. From concept through execution, you will ensure that all operations are safe, efficient, and delivered to world-class standards.
Core Responsibilities:
* Lead marine engineering scope for load-out/load-in operations, ballast calculations, and marine logistics
* Prepare and deliver engineering documentation including stability calculations, mooring analysis, sea fastening design, risk assessments, and method statements
* Conduct site visits and provide on-site engineering leadership during operations
* Collaborate with internal project managers and clients to ensure precise, safe delivery
* Mentor and support junior engineers and contribute to the continued development of the marine engineering discipline
What You’ll Need to Succeed
Essential:
* Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Naval Architecture or Marine/Ocean Engineering (or significant industry experience)
* 8–10 years’ experience in engineering and managing critical marine load-out/in operations using barges
* Proven ability to act as a technical lead and deliver documentation to high technical and safety standards
* Deep understanding of vessel stability, mooring analysis (quasi-static and dynamic), structural design, and marine hydrodynamics
* Skilled in hand calculations and design validation before FEA software application
* Proficient in AutoCAD, and MS Office Suite
* Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
* Willingness to travel nationally and internationally as project needs dictate
* Valid UK driving licence and unrestricted passport
Desirable:
* Chartered Engineer status (ICE, IMechE, IStructE, IET, RNIA, etc.)
* Experience with alternative heavy lift methods and equipment (e.g. hydraulic installations, crawler cranes, SPMTs)
* Familiarity with Eurocode EC3 and BS5975 (temporary works)
* Experience using Ansys Workbench or similar FEA tools, and MathCAD
* Understanding of offshore renewables, oil & gas, and defence infrastructure projects
