Job Description: Here at DXC we have an exciting new opportunity for an experienced, on-site Desktop Support Engineer to provide support to a long standing client at Washington. Due to the nature of our client's work the successful candidate will need to either hold or be able to obtain SC Security Clearance. For this reason we are only able to progress with applications from British nationals. This role is primarily site based at Washington but will involve support for supported sites such as Ridsdale Range and other local sites. There is often a need to provide remote support for satellite sites and our tech bar service. Site based engineer primarily based on a secure site at Washington, with required support to both Washington and Ridsdale Range (Paid travel between sites). This is a full-time permanent position working 37.5-hours per week, Monday - Friday between the hours of 07:00 - 19:00. Main responsibilities: As a Desktop Support Engineer you will be: IMAC’s – Installations, Moves, Additions and Changes Carrying out Security Audits of all devices holding Data on the network by Scanning and reporting Break-Fix of all in-scope managed devices Hands and Eyes Support to visually verify the state of managed devices such as servers and network devices Desktop Support including special project activities as they arise Asset Management & Stock Management Managing the lifecycle of loan user equipment Working directly alongside the client managing own workload whilst liaising with other teams or vendors to resolution Act as a central point of contact for the customer Software and system fault diagnosis, analysis and fix Take responsibility for stock used and follow the correct procedures regarding stock management Proactively keeping the customer updated with problem status at all times Identifying and reporting risk as appropriate in accordance with the guidelines Must have, or be able to obtain UK GOV Security Clearance at SC level Full, clean UK Driving License Proven trouble shooting skills Previous experience in a similar role with ITIL environment PC/Desktop Support knowledge including Microsoft Windows 7/10 onwards Excellent communicator both face-to-face & over the phone Administering Windows Share\File permissions. Mobile connectivity (E.g. Android/IPhone) Knowledge of SCCM Good knowledge of HP Workstation, Desktops & Laptops Must be able to deal productively with a high workload with minimal supervision Great attention to detail Desirable Microsoft Certification (MCSE/MCSA/MCP’s) Accredited in relevant manufacturers hardware qualification (HP) Basic Network Knowledge (Patching, tracing switch information etc.) Service Now Ticketing System Experience Recruitment fraud is a scheme in which fictitious job opportunities are offered to job seekers typically through online services, such as false websites, or through unsolicited emails claiming to be from the company.
