Location: Horsham, West Sussex
Salary: £47,000 (average annual including allowances/bonuses)
Shift Pattern: 6.00pm to 6.00am on a 4 on/4 off rota

About the Role:
Join our clients team at the where we specialise in producing high-quality bricks for the construction industry. As a Mechanical Maintenance Engineer, you’ll be an integral part of our clients in-house maintenance team, ensuring the smooth operation of their specialist machinery and equipment. This is a hands-on, dynamic role where you’ll apply your problem-solving skills and technical expertise to troubleshoot and maintain machinery, contributing to the efficiency and reliability of our production processes.
You’ll have the opportunity to use a wide range of maintenance skills, including fitting, welding, fabrication, and service engineering, in a fast-paced environment. Every day brings new challenges and opportunities to make a real impact on the factory’s operations.
Key Responsibilities:
* Perform essential maintenance on machinery and equipment
* Support the development of an agile maintenance system
* Troubleshoot and attend breakdowns, ensuring minimal disruption to production
* Ensure machine safety standards are adhered to and critical spares are available
* Install and maintain plant machinery
* Contribute to improving factory overall equipment effectiveness
* Promote Lean thinking and continuous improvement
* Use various testing equipment to locate and resolve faults
* Contribute to safe systems of work (SSOW) documentation
* Maintain quality standards in accordance with BSEN ISO 9001

About You:
* You’ll be a mechanically biased engineer with a background in manufacturing or factory environments, holding at least a Level 3 qualification in an Engineering discipline.
* You’ll have a strong commitment to health and safety best practices and be comfortable working in a busy, hands-on environment.
* Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with experience in diagnostics and fault finding on hydraulics, pneumatics, and drive systems.
* You’ll have hands-on experience with bearing fitting/ alignment, electrical control systems, and basic welding/fabrication (Arc and MIG).
* Good communication skills and the ability to work well in a team are essential.
* You should be physically fit enough to perform the demands of the role and able to adapt to changing priorities.
Desirable:
* Completion of a hands-on apprenticeship programme
* HNC or HND qualification (or equivalent)
* Experience in heavy industry manufacturing
