We are now recruiting Processing Engineers at Parcelforce Northwest Processing Centre, Unit 5, Revolution Park, Buckshaw Avenue. Chorley, PR7 7DW.
The starting salary for this role is from GBP 40,885 per annum, rising to GBP 44,532 per annum, on completion of a one year probation period. You'll also get 22.5 days annual leave, with bank holidays, and a defined contribution pension scheme.
We are looking to offer Full time, Permanent contracts.
Shift attendance equates to 35.5 hours averaged over a 3 week rota.
Rotating shift pattern
Week 1 : Nights : Monday to Friday 19:30 : 05:00
Week 2 : Lates : Monday to Friday 11:45 : 19:45
Week 3 : Earlies : Wednesday to Friday 07:00 : 13:30
:This role has the unique benefit of not working any weekends, along with 2 rest days planned in during the early shift making it a good fit for someone with friends / family working more regular office hours.
:In total you get 8 days off in every 3 week period plus your usual annual leave allowance.
:Overtime is routinely available to cover other team members leave / sickness.
:Additional voluntary overtime is scheduled at weekends throughout the year to perform larger maintenance tasks on the system resulting in good potential to earn above the pay scales listed on the advert, whilst maintaining family life and work / life balance.
The successful candidate will be required to follow the North West Processing Centre Engineering shift rotation system, as outlined above with some degree of voluntary flexibility to meet our 24/7 operational needs on occasion, including voluntary overtime coverage, including Bank Holidays where required.
The Role
As a Processing Engineer you will be required to diagnose and solve equipment problems in a planned, cost effective manner, taking into account employee needs and customer requirements. You will act in accordance with current health and safety legislation, identifying best practice and giving guidance to others.
As an integral part of our team, your role involves fostering and nurturing relationships with key internal stakeholders and suppliers, ensuring a deep understanding of their perspectives and requirements.
Your responsibilities encompass the upkeep, repair, and enhancement of all parcel handling equipment (PHE). You will oversee contractors and trainees under your supervision, providing hands:on training and professional development. Additionally, you will conduct scheduled mail searches and retrieve items during patrol that have either fallen off or become stuck in the system. Depending on your duties and experience, you are expected to execute the following tasks, either independently or with assistance:
Preventative and corrective maintenance of all PHE including:
:Belt conveyors, fixed, curved and extending;
:Roller conveyors, driven belt, line shaft and gravity;
:Horizontal and vertical conveyor switches;
:Dynamic revenue data capture devices;
:Dock interface systems;
:Roller powered doors;
About you
:Hold a minimum of City and Guilds "C" certificate or an equivalent qualification on electronic, electrical or mechanical engineering.
:Have a full appreciation of all aspects of H and S legislation and standards
:Good interpersonal, communications and problem solving skills, as well as being computer literate with a proactive interest in technological progress.
:Be able to work in a multi:skilled environment; with a qualification in at least one discipline with the ability to undertake work in other trades
