Job Title: Senior Associate (Private Client and Tax) Salary: up to £125,000 DOE Firm: Top Tier Ranking PQE: 4 Location: Central London (Hybrid) Job Profile Our client is a Highly regarded and ranked Legal team with an award-winning Private Client and Tax team. The firm are looking to expand and take on an experienced Senior Associate who has upwards of 5 Years PQE experience. Clients range from wealthy individuals, family offices, financial institutions and established businesses and set ups. This is a highly exciting opportunity to become involved in all areas of Private Client and Tax practises. With clients across the UK and internationally. The day-to-day Private Client Associate position would involve: Will drafting and succession planning - including assisting with the creation and maintenance of wealth planning structures such as onshore and offshore trusts, foundations, family investment companies and partnerships. Advising on inheritance tax and the application of reliefs, exemptions, double tax treaties and key planning exercises. Advising on legal issues arising from cross border succession planning, including conflict of law issues and liaising with foreign counsel to tailor a global strategy. Advising on tax residency and domicile, and providing guidance on income tax and capital gains tax principles including the remittance basis of taxation and reliefs including split year treatment, overseas' workday relief, and related personal tax issues including the application of double tax treaties. Providing advice to trustees and beneficiaries on their rights and responsibilities in relation to trusts, including assisting with restructuring projects. Advising on legal issues connected with the loss of mental capacity, including in particular preparing and registering lasting powers of attorney’s. Advising individuals and trustees on legal issues connected with their use of private capital for philanthropic and impact investing purposes, including advising charities on charitable law; Guiding individuals and trustees on the implications of and application of reporting and information exchange, transparency and anti-corruption initiatives; Providing tax advice on the set-up, retention and/or unwinding of UK residential property holding structures including income tax, capital gains tax, inheritance tax and related corporate tax, ATED and SDLT issues; and The successful candidate Private Client Associate will: Technically strong with very good commercial judgment. Able to think and act independently but know when to ask for help and take instruction. Enthusiastic, confident, sociable and self-motivated with common sense.
