We are looking for an experienced Cloud Governance Manager who will lead and develop the Cloud Governance model to ensure it remains current and fit for purpose within a constantly changing multi-cloud ecosystem. Provide expertise to ensure that agreed enterprise standards are adhered to, steering the Cloud Centre of Excellence (CCoE) in Cloud governance best practices, and supporting, guiding, and influencing any exceptions and deviations from the model.
You will also be responsible for monitoring, managing, and optimising Cloud spend to deliver maximum return on investment and advising and supporting cloud budget forecasting for dedicated and shared cloud services.
Who you'll work with
At DLG (Direct Line Group) we are delivering a set of plans to transform our technology for the future, evolving the systems, platforms, and infrastructure that our people use day-to-day. You will join our wider 'Group Core Technology and Operations' department whose mission is to serve customers by managing Technology for stability, performance, and value.
Within this, you'll be part of the Cloud Infrastructure Services Team, which comprises multiple SMEs for different technology disciplines. You will report to our Cloud Governance Lead.
What you will do
1. Design and implement enterprise-level processes and standards based on Cloud best practices.
2. Deliver insightful assurance reporting to evidence compliance of agreed standards and exceptions.
3. Create KPIs to measure effectiveness and identify areas for improvement in compliance with the model.
4. Support the development and maturity of our CCoE and the Cloud Governance model.
5. Contribute to the definitions of Cloud Governance policies within the CCoE.
6. Develop tagging policies and ensure compliance across all Cloud Service Providers.
7. Create a control testing model to ensure ongoing compliance with Cloud standards.
8. Advise on transforming existing manual Cloud processes and tasks into automation.
9. Drive and mature Cloud Cost Optimisation initiatives to deliver maximum business value.
10. Develop a mature Cloud budgeting model and reporting of actual cost vs budget.
11. Support Cloud Capacity Planning and Capacity Management.
12. Contribute to sustainability reporting and metrics on carbon emissions within the cloud.
13. Collaborate with the CCoE on policies and guardrails to empower the business while maintaining enterprise standards.
14. Contribute to the FinOps team to identify Cost Optimisation Opportunities.
15. Coach and mentor existing members of the FinOps team in wider Cloud Governance best practices.
16. Provide cost forecasting across the Cloud estate for proposed/planned changes to existing deployments.
17. Workload planning modelling the expected cost of a deployment into one of AWS, Azure, or OCI.

What we look for
Direct experience of managing a Cloud Governance model within a large multi-cloud environment. Expertise in Cloud Governance best practice models, policies, and standards. Ability to influence decision-making through clear informed evidence-based data and build healthy trusted relationships. Technical knowledge of both AWS and Azure. Knowledge of Cloud economics, budgeting, forecasting, and optimisation. Expertise in the communication of technical information in a clear and precise way to all levels of stakeholders. Experience of Cloud management tools including Cloudability, AWS cost explorer, AWS Cudos, Azure Cost Management, and PowerBI. Data-driven with an analytical background.
