Do you want to make a difference in your work?
Do you enjoy a challenge?
Do you have a passion for improving the life chances, opportunities and outcomes of young people?
Larches High School is a Secondary Alternative Provision school which provides full-time education for up to 125 pupils who are not able to access mainstream education. We have an inclusive philosophy and believe passionately in ensuring that all pupils are given the opportunities, skills, knowledge, and qualifications to ensure that they are able to reintegrate back into mainstream education or on to specialist provision, further education, employment, or training.
We recognise that our pupils are individuals and that “one size does not fit all”. We also understand that many of our pupils have not had a positive experience of education and we believe it is our role to re-engage them with their learning, improve relationships, and broaden their opportunities.
The personal relationships developed with our pupils ensure that each one achieves their potential both academically and personally.
The Governors of Larches High School are seeking to appoint an enthusiastic, dynamic, and dedicated individual to join the school as a Lead Teacher for Science, teaching at KS3 and KS4. Larches High School has two dedicated fully equipped Science laboratories and a designated Science learning support assistant to support with the preparation of practical experiments. You will be expected to deliver high-quality science lessons that engage and challenge our students to achieve their best.
The post will require the successful candidate to be a consistently good or outstanding teacher and have a proven record of engaging all pupils and raising their attainment. They would lead, manage, and develop Science as a curriculum area across the school.
Please contact the headteacher, Mrs. Mitchell, to arrange a visit to the school or for an informal discussion.
This school is committed to safeguarding and protecting the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment.
Rehabilitation: The post you are applying for is covered by the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 (Exceptions) Order 1975 (as amended in 2013). If successful you will be required to apply to the Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) for a 'disclosure'. Information provided by you or the Disclosure and Barring Service will be dealt with in a confidential manner in accordance with the DBS's Code of Practice. You may view the Code of Practice on the DBS website at www.gov.uk/dbs or alternatively a copy is available on request.
