An exciting opportunity has arisen to work in this recently opened service. We are looking for a full time, Band 6 Deputy Team Leader. The postholder will support the Team Leader to provide clinical leadership and first line management for The Specialist Perinatal Community Mental Health Team, working within East Lancashire and Blackburn with Darwen.
The SPCMHT aspires to provide an excellent comprehensive Perinatal Mental Health Service for the women of Lancashire and South Cumbria. We deliver a sustainable and resilient solution for women suffering from a mental illness in the perinatal period by focusing on improving outcomes for them, their infant and their families. We do this by effective multidisciplinary integrated team working and ensuring effective prevention that responds to local need by:
1. Intervening earlier at preconception, during pregnancy and up to 2 years following delivery.
2. On-going training of professionals from multiple disciplines.
3. Improving pathways and processes for mothers, their families and professionals.
4. Delivering a multi-disciplinary specialist perinatal mental health service to women who present with severe/complex mental health needs, in accordance with CR197 staffing recommendations and delivery of NICE recommended intervention.
The post holder will work with the Team Leader and other senior clinicians, supporting the delivery of a high quality and high performing team to a defined population.
Main duties of the job
1. To assist the team leader with first line management for a community-based perinatal mental health team in designated geographical localities within Lancashire Care Foundation Trust and South Cumbria Partnership Foundation Trust.
2. To support the team leader in ensuring that staff in the team have opportunities for continuing professional development, in order to provide best practice and meet the requirements of registering bodies, and to drive improvements in standards of clinical practice and patient care in line with the NHS modernisation and Public Health agendas.
3. To provide clinical input 0.5 WTE and management support 0.5 WTE.
4. To work with the Team Leader and senior clinicians to actively lead in the delivery of the clinical governance, quality improvement and performance management agenda within an identified locality team.

Person Specification
Education/ Qualifications
* Must hold a Mental Health professional qualification (RMN).
* Completion of, or commitment to working towards, Management or Leadership training.
* Documented evidence of continuing professional development (CPD).
Knowledge
* Expert knowledge on mental health issues and how these impact on the individual, carer's and the wider community.
* Expertise in current best practice in Adult Mental Health, and awareness of relevant government directives and legislation.
* Specialist knowledge and application of mental health assessments and interventions using expert level clinical reasoning.
* Knowledge of current research in specialist area and ability to implement into own and others' practice.
* Detailed knowledge of relevant legislation and its impact on current practice.
