Berkshire Community Dental Service is looking to recruit a full-time lead dental nurse. This role incorporates managerial, leadership and clinical responsibilities. You will be working closely with the senior dental team and senior management within the division and will be supported by the Chief Dentist and Service Manager. There will be opportunities to liaise with other teams such as contracts, procurement, informatics and finance.
The lead dental nurse will join an enthusiastic and skilled workforce with a great team spirit. The service has 7 clinics ranging from Thatcham to Langley and has over 40 members of staff. We provide treatment under sedation, general anaesthesia and in secure units. It is expected that the lead dental nurse will also work clinically and will attend the clinic sites as part of their leadership and managerial role. The service treats patients with additional needs including children, people with learning and physical disabilities and the elderly. The service provides treatment in the clinics and works with neighbouring acute hospitals for provision of its general anaesthetic service.
Your base will be in Bracknell, but you will also work at other clinics, the hospitals where we undertake general anaesthetic sessions and in the domiciliary setting. It is therefore essential that you can drive, have a UK driving licence and a car for travel between clinics and hospitals.

* GDC Registration
* National Certificate for Dental Nurses or NVQ Level 3 in Oral Healthcare
* Significant experience as a Dental Nurse within Community Dental service settings
* Experience of service compliance management/service improvement
* Have a car and driving licence
* Strong leadership skills
* A team player and willing to work with the dental team and the Trust
* Experience with dental software and strong general IT skills
* Ability to work outside normal working hours (8.30 – 17.00) given sufficient notice

Person specification
Education/Qualifications/Training
* Portfolio of evidence of CPD Qualifications or equivalent experience in: National Certificate for Dental Nurses or NVQ Level 3 in Oral Healthcare
* Registered with the General Dental Council
* Significant experience of working in a Dental setting with in-depth clinical nursing knowledge
* Significant experience or in-depth knowledge of working in special care and/or paediatric and/or community dentistry or equivalent qualifications e.g. sedation dental nursing, special care dental nursing, significant GA experience
* Portfolio of evidence of CPD Qualifications or equivalent experience in: Information Technology
* Business management
