The ideal candidate has experience managing a cultivation team in a licensed commercial environment, and is familiar with all modern cannabis cultivation and harvest related tasks on a large scale. We are looking for the right mix of detail-oriented cultivator, analytical data-driven decision maker, and inspiring empathetic people leader. Knowledge of precision irrigation strategies and lean manufacturing principles is highly desired. The Cultivation Manager will report to the Director of Cultivation for all tasks. They will be required to learn how different cultivars/strains grow, and how to identify a variety of pests/pathogens. This is a complex position that requires good organizational skills, critical thinking, and the ability to adapt to rapidly changing tasks. The Cultivation Manager oversees all cultivation processes to ensure department adherence to track & trace requirements, cultivation schedule deadlines, quality control, IPM program execution and materials/inventory requests. This role will support the 710 Labs brand but will be employed by our New Jersey partner, Fresh Cannabis, LLC. Responsibilities include: · Ensure all genetics are kept alive and in good health, bi-weekly inventory checks on all genetics and tracking of location within the nursery. Update veg inventory in provided spreadsheets or management software once inventory checks are completed · Develop and maintain schedule of when to regenerate new cutting stock of all cultivars to secure safekeeping of genetic library · Monitor both mother plants and the propagation room to ensure cutting stock aligns with the annual cultivation schedule. Develop and present a contingency plan if cutting stock falls short of what's outlined in the annual cultivation schedule · Administering and developing training programs for all nursery employees, writing/updating SOP’s and tracking KPI’s · Have foresight of all key tasks and deadlines greater than 1 month · Interviewing, training/onboarding, and conducting 1:1 meetings with constructive feedback, and issue Corrective Actions · Hands on with plants: pruning, defoliating, applying foliar sprays, scouting, and releasing beneficial insects · Organize team workflow and task execution · Monitor Productivity/Performance, track KPIs, and deliver timely, specific, and actionable feedback to employees · Meet Performance Goals set by upper management · Minor/Intermediate METRC compliance · Seamless coverage for other leadership when necessary · Delegation of all plant processing related tasks (harvest, pruning, etc.) to be completed on time outlined in the annual cultivation schedule · Promote positive team culture · Daily data entry and recording of all plant material weights into corresponding harvest cycle spreadsheets · Management of both full-time and temporary employees: scheduling workflow, track working hours, inputting timesheets, ensuring meal/rest break compliance, and coordinating staffing needs with the Director of Cultivation and third party staffing companies · Coordinate with the Lab Director to forecast time and volume of product ready for extraction · Any other task assigned by the Director of Cultivation. Qualifications: · Must have 2 years of experience directly managing a team of 4 or more employees in a production facility · Bachelor's degree in plant science, business, or management, or 4 years equivalent experience as a Manager in a commercial cannabis facility · Minimum of 2 years experience overseeing the commercial propagation of cannabis in a regulated environment · Familiarity with a wide variety of different cannabis cultivars, how they grow, and what techniques to apply in veg, pruning, generating cutting stock, and propagation according to an individual cultivar’s needs · Must be adept in Metrc regulatory database, Excel spreadsheets, developing and tracking KPI’s, inventory management, labor forecasting, and efficient task delegation · Excellent communication, interpersonal, leadership, coaching, and conflict resolution skills · Ability to analyze processes and information, identify problems and trends, and develop effective solutions and strategies Please note that the regulations and laws of The State of New Jersey require persons working onsite at a cannabis facility to be at least 21 years of age.
