We are hosting a Paediatric Nursing Interview Day on Thursday 13th March 2025, 09.30 - 15.00 at UHP on Level 12 Wildgoose ward School room. This is applicable for those who are soon to qualify, newly qualified or seeking your next opportunity within Paediatric nursing!
This Band 5 rotational post will include Woodcock Ward, Wildgoose Ward, The Children's Assessment Unit and the Children's High Dependency unit. This rotational post comes with great learning and training opportunities.
The unit consists of Woodcock ward, which is a 14 bedded ward caring for children and babies of all specialities from the ages 0 -10 years and works closely with PLYM theatres.
Wildgoose Ward is a 13 bedded ward caring for Children over the age of 10 covering all specialities and all oncology.
The Children's Assessment unit sees all emergency admissions from General practice as well as some medical cases from the emergency department.
The Children's High Dependency Unit accepts acute and planned admissions. The unit consists of four beds and undertakes major orthopaedic, ENT and complex surgery as well as emergency medicine. The unit provides a high level of high dependency care including non-invasive ventilation and invasive stabilisation ventilation.

Main duties of the job
Clinical
* Providing and delivering a high standard of nursing care by initiating and co-coordinating the assessment, planning, and evaluating of individual patients needs based on evidence.
* Reporting and documenting any relevant nursing/patient needs, communicating changes with other health care professionals in the multi-disciplinary team with ongoing responsibility for patient care as they occur.
* Promoting and delivering health education within the clinical area and advising patients, families, and others in health promotion issues.
* Engaging and interacting with carers/family, encouraging them to be actively involved in patients' care, planning as outlined in the unit philosophy.
* Demonstrating and undertaking evidence-based practice, playing an active part in the introduction of this evidence to improve patient-centred care.
Preference will be given to internal Trust staff, as well as 'Priority' and 'At Risk' status including NHS At Risk staff throughout Devon who are able to display recent relevant experience as dictated by the Person Specification.

* Undertaking manual handling assessments and ensuring identified actions are met.

Qualifications
* NMC Registered Nurse
* Relevant post-basic leadership course
Knowledge & Experience
* Proven evidence of recent Continuing Professional Development.
* Proven knowledge of patient administration system.
* Proven intravenous therapy skills.
* Good communication skills, written and verbal, with ability to demonstrate fluency, clarity and effectiveness at all levels.
* Effective influencing skills: in general and with senior health care professionals.
* Demonstrate potential management abilities.
* Ability to facilitate change within the work area.
