We're looking for a Site Manager (Logistics) to join our Construction team, on an exciting project at the Royal Navy Air Station Culdrose.
Location: Helston, Cornwall
Contract: Permanent, full-time
What will you be responsible for?
As a Site Manager (Logistics) you'll be supporting the Western and Wales region of the business.
The unique nature of the Culdrose project brings different challenges to a typical construction site. You will be responsible for working closely alongside the appointed Guard Force who will manage the access into the base, and the construction site areas. You will coordinate with them and manage vehicle access into the base and managing the escorting of vehicles to and from the construction sites, once within the base.
You will also liaise closely with the Kier Security Coordinator to ensure that all appropriate base access has been pre-arranged in advance, to ensure the smooth flow of logistics and avoid “vehicle stack” external to the base entrance.
Weekly meetings will be held with the base to ensure good coordination and communication related to other contractors works, or relevant base operations within Culdrose.
Your duties and responsibilities will include but not be limited to:
* Ensuring the responsibilities identified to you in the Company Health and Safety Policy are conducted in accordance with the policies, procedures, and control standards, contained within the Information Management System (IMS)
* Assist the Project Team in the coordination of associated Sub-Contractors, which include all logistics and works activities, ensuring that consideration is given to the neighbouring / local community such that we mitigate impact wherever possible.
* Attend daily coordination meetings with the “Black Hat” supervisors for the coordination of Sub-Contractors and the Kier Site Team.
* Attend weekly planning sessions and collaborative planning workshops.
* Ensure any out-of-hours works are planned in advance to ensure adequate/appropriate resources are available. Coordinate with the base security team to ensure availability of any necessary non-Kier attendances.
What are we looking for?
This role is great for you if you:
* Work experience within the construction industry, or a related transferable skills industry.
* A proven track record of delivery, within a construction management, or logistics function, that has led to performance improvement – i.e., cost reduction, process/service enhancements, innovation.
* Personal commitment to promoting a sustainable approach to logistic procurement and supply chain management.
* Intellectual capacity to deal with complex logistics issues, and to implement the agreed logistics plan.
* Good knowledge of building products, construction methods, relevant rules and regulations, and quality standards.
* A good understanding of the construction process and site procedures.
* Leadership and management skills.
