About the Role:
You will be joining our Asset Management team, a key part of our Estates and Facilities Services. As a member of this small team, you will be strengthening our responsibility for the planned, preventative, and reactive maintenance of the University Estate, including commercial, residential, and domestic buildings, the ideal candidate will have a high level of attention to detail and understand the importance of providing a high-quality service to the universities students and staff.
As a Maintenance Operative, reporting to the Maintenance services team leader at our Cambridge campus, you will use a range of tools and equipment to undertake a variety of tasks such as Carpentry, building maintenance, minor plumbing repairs, decorating, floor laying, compliance tasks (P.A.T. testing, Legionella control, fire alarm testing, following full training), updating maintenance service records, maintenance schedules and helpdesk PPMs. You will also prepare cost estimates and documentation for works undertaken and have an understanding of health and safety requirements.
You will have a trade qualification in carpentry, equivalent to level 3 City & Guilds or NVQ and have previous hands-on, field experience, ideally gained in a multi-site environment, alongside basic IT and numeracy skills. You will be a self-motivated, effective team player with a positive can-do approach and will use your initiative to effectively evaluate priorities. You will adopt a methodical approach to your work, ensuring that you maintain effective communication with your team members, client users, our wider staff and management.
