Operations Engineer, Newcastle upon Tyne
About the Role
The Operations Engineer is responsible for supporting all aspects of operation, maintenance, and engineering activities related to the O&M & LTSA contracts at Hirwaun, Progress, and Millbrook OCGT power plants. The role requires a suitable level of engineering and technical knowledge to ensure safe and reliable operation of plant and equipment, meeting the Client’s operational and commercial requirements. The role involves remote control room activities on a shift basis and may include site support.
Key Responsibilities
* Monitor and control plant operation 24/7, respond to alarms, maintain operational logs.
* Ensure health, safety, and environmental compliance.
* Maintain plant availability and adherence to procedures.
* Execute plant start-up and shutdown procedures safely and efficiently.
* Utilize technical documentation and management systems for reporting and management.
* Coordinate with customers and external parties for power and gas supply.
* Respond to National Grid and Trader instructions.
* Support development of Siemens Energy Asset Care Programme.
* Assist in operational excellence strategies and incident analysis.

* Senior Operations Engineer – Daily coordination
* Management teams and supporting contractors.
Qualifications and Skills
* Minimum HNC or equivalent in engineering.
* At least 5 years of power plant operation and maintenance experience.
* Knowledge of power plant principles, safety practices, and environmental standards.
* NEBOSH or equivalent health and safety qualification.
* Strong problem-solving, communication, and reporting skills.
Additional Information
Location: Newcastle upon Tyne, with some travel to Hirwaun, Progress, and Millbrook sites. EU work permit required. Full-time role.
