As a Proposals Manager you will be part of our successful Strategic Work Winning Team who are responsible for winning work and growing the business. You will work alongside Bid Directors to lead teams on our larger, significant Bids across England in all three of our sectors: Highways Maintenance, Street Lighting and Projects, supporting multiple bids across sectors at any one time. The main office location for this role is Beaconsfield. It is anticipated that the role will be hybrid working, with time split flexibly between remote working, the Beaconsfield office and local contract depots/offices where appropriate for bid team meetings. As a Proposals Manager your duties & responsibilities will be: Accountability for the coordination of strategic bids (particularly larger TMC and significant Project Sector bids), including bid programme, quality submission and priced submission. Accountability for the proposal development and submission. Carrying out hands on bid writing duties and ownership of questions from storyboard through to final submission. Leading answer planning workshops. Collaborate with and influence the bid team to establish common and specific win themes, differentiators and effective tender strategies. Work alongside the Bid Director to manage bid teams and inputs from key stakeholders, typically engaging with business development, estimating, writing, commercial and operational teams. Manage the end-to-end bid process to ensure compliant bid submission. Collaborate with bid core team to develop detailed bid programme, with critical path and owners identified, ensuring programme is tracked and monitored on a weekly basis. Communication of bid programme to wider SMEs and support team to ensure tasks are completed to achieve programme milestones. Gain approval for bid programme from Bid Director, Chief Estimator and Head of Proposals. Escalation of key programme challenges and seeking resolution. Compliance with MIMS work winning process and consistency across all sectors. Co-ordinate and plan all client presentations and negotiation preparation required as part of the bid submission. Drive continuous improvement, through post-bid reviews, both internally and with customers. Boost brand during bid through targeted comms or events. Supporting prequalification and bid submissions, workshops and bid writing activities. Leading writing teams – managing weekly/daily calls, tracking progress and supporting writers to delivery their requirements. Direct line management of writers, providing coaching/mentoring, development, guidance and support etc Review of quality documentation and peer review across sectors to maximise cross-sector and cross-bid learning Communication of bid commitments/promises and ensure alignment with price and quality submission Ownership and management of BMW, ensuring accuracy, up-to-date, single version of truth – co-ordinating tasks with bid admin where appropriate Skills & Knowledge Requirements APMP Certification desirable. Excellent IT skills, particularly significant experience in using Microsoft Word. Excellent formatting and proofreading skills. Thorough understanding of work winning procedures and processes including reviews. At least 5 years working on multi-million-pound construction submissions. Excellent communication skills to ensure effective communication across the bid team. Excellent interpersonal skills, with ability to engage, influence and negotiate at all organisational levels. Strong command of English language verbal and written (formal and informal). Excellent writing and editing skills, demonstrating ability to form persuasive text in a concise format. Strong research capability and ability to summarise extensive information in saliant points. Project/Programme Management qualification desirable or demonstrable experience of managing significant projects/programmes with multidisciplinary teams. Exceptional organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks. Desire for self-development and continuous self-improvement. Demonstrate Milestone values and behaviours.
