Brook Street are proud to be working exclusively with a renowned public sector client who are on the hunt for a Democratic Services Officer.
We are looking for an individual that has knowledge and experience understanding local government and structures. The right candidate will have strong administration skills, organisation and interpersonal skills.
Hours 9am - 5pm
Cambourne Based, Hybrid working possible
Salary up to £36,370 - (Fixed term contract 4 months)
Start date 2nd September.
Responsibilities & Experience Required:
1. Able to work quickly and accurately with excellent literacy and numeracy skills
2. Able to understand and interpret the council's constitution (and associated documents) and give advice and support to colleagues and councillors
3. Excellent skills of Microsoft product range (word, excel, teams) and able to pick up new systems quickly
4. Willing and able to work outside standard office hours to support evening meetings
5. Able to travel to attend meetings at various locations
6. The work will be in a political environment, routinely interacting with local government members. Political neutrality, sensitivity and awareness are of key importance
7. Basic knowledge of local government, including the roles of councillors and officers and the role of the Democratic Services team and how it supports effective decision making
8. Experience of minute taking
9. Experience of working to and managing tight deadlines
