Job Description
As part of a small and busy sensory team, the Sensory Technician assists Sensory Panel Leaders in running the sensory panel in Wokingham, Berkshire. Responsibilities include supporting sensory projects, preparation, execution, and clean-up in our sensory facility.
The descriptive panel trains and tests various product categories, such as food, beverage, personal, and household products.
Hours: 21 hours/week: 9am-12pm Mondays, 8am-2pm Tuesdays to Thursdays. Flexibility on Mondays if extra hours are needed.
Location: On-site at SCC Wokingham
Pay: £13.50/hour
This is a fast-paced role requiring organization and strong time management skills, as you will handle multiple projects simultaneously.
Key Responsibilities
* Preparing and serving samples/materials for panel training and profiling.
* Sourcing and managing delivery of products for research, maintaining accurate inventory and proper storage.
* Preparing the sensory panel area before sessions and cleaning afterward.
* Following, applying, and documenting research protocols.
* Ensuring activities comply with food hygiene standards; basic food hygiene training provided.
* Maintaining and developing kitchen/laboratory SOPs, identifying needs, recommending improvements, and training technicians.
* Maintaining sensory kitchen/laboratory functionality by managing stock and supplies.
Skills, Knowledge, and Expertise
* Strong team player, able to work independently and collaboratively.
* Proactive, flexible, and able to manage changing priorities.
* Excellent interpersonal and communication skills; fluent in English.
* Ability to stand for long periods and lift up to 10 kg.
