We have an urgent requirement for an Electrical/Instrumentation Commissioning Engineer to strengthen our team delivering our Falklands Power Plant project. The Commissioning Engineer must have a background in the successful delivery of commissioning activities of a project through to a successful handover.
The Commissioning Engineer will bring demonstrable dual discipline commissioning experience and practical skills to a small team. Working closely with the on-site Commissioning Manager, you will ensure that all commissioning activities are executed to meet the project schedule requirements in a safe and effective manner. You will be accountable for the efficiency, quality and safe activities of the commissioning aspects of the projects you are working on and you will lead designated commissioning activities, within the agreed constraints of time, quality and cost, whilst maintaining the relationships with the client’s operational staff and contractors, ensuring an excellent Health Safety and Environmental performance. You will ensure customer satisfaction and quality is always achieved. The Commissioning Engineer will work 6 days each week whilst in the Falklands and will work rotations.
A competitive daily rate is available and this role has been confirmed to be outside of IR35.
Responsibilities:
1. Lead designated activities and have responsibility for system commissioning on Falklands Power project
2. Health and Safety of the commissioning activities of the project
3. Provide progress updates and raise concerns where necessary
4. Ensure the commissioning is to the appropriate levels of quality and to standards and manufacturers best practice
5. Method Statements and Risk Assessments for system commissioning based activities
6. Provide constructive input to the production of commissioning plans, inspection test plans and training manuals
7. Co-ordinate with the Systems Integration team to carry out all Site Acceptance Tests and Telemetry commissioning
8. Review P&ID diagrams and provide strategies to commission plant and equipment to existing processes in line with client specifications, without compromising safety and reducing risk
9. Attend commissioning meetings with representatives from our clients engineering and Trant operational teams
10. Liaise with suppliers and subcontractors throughout the on-site commissioning process
11. Perform and/or oversee installation tests, pre-commissioning and commissioning tests also equipment handover operational testing
12. Demonstrate commissioned systems to the client representatives to obtain plant sign off prior to handover
13. Completion of commissioning records and diaries ensuring that all progress and equipment reports are recorded for the O&M and handover manuals
14. Ensure a smooth delivery and handover
Qualifications, competencies and skills:
1. Working knowledge of 18th Edition and C&G 2391 desirable
2. Significant commissioning background (Electrical and/or Instrumentation)
3. Knowledge of working with and commissioning ATEX rated equipment
4. Working knowledge of fluid distribution systems such as low and medium temperature hot water, fuels and oils essential
5. Working Knowledge of HV distribution systems desirable
6. Working knowledge of air handling systems desirable
7. Experience working with PLC SCADA systems, Siemens PCS7 desirable
8. ECS / CSCS or equivalent competency cards
9. Understanding the importance of promoting a safety culture on site
10. Strong communication & interpersonal skills
11. Working knowledge of Microsoft office packages
