Recent and current clients include HS2, Rolls-Royce, DEFRA, Nestland Shell. You will work in a large and friendly team and get involved in many aspects of our projects that could include site based measurement of sound and vibration, data analysis, prediction, acoustic design, reporting writing and liaison with clients. Your time with us will provide a valuable insight into acoustic consultancy at the highest level, within the operation of one of the worldleading providers of engineering, construction, and technical services.We have opportunities for summer placements or 6-12 month placements in Croydon, Manchester, Leeds or Nottingham. This role is for Leeds.As a placements student within the acoustics team, you will have the opportunity to contribute to a wide range of technical projects, with a wealth of experience from within the team to support you and develop your knowledge and skills. Whilst the precise work will be dependent on current projects, it is likely that your involvement would include:Contribute to the acoustic input, data analysis, predictions, and 3D modelling on a range of projectsComplete site visits to make acoustic measurements and observationsUndertake primary research and literature searchesSupport senior colleagues in providing technical advice to clientsTechnical report writingCommunication with clients, local authorities and interdisciplinary teamsAttend client and design team meetingsUndertake STEM activitiesQualificationsWorking towards a BSc\/MSc degree in Acoustics, Acoustical Engineering, Sound Engineering and Production (Physics or Mechanical Engineering if a keen interest\/experience in Acoustics).Anticipated degree classification of 2:1 or above (or equivalent) is preferredGood Microsoft Office skills essential such as Word, Excel & PowerPointStrong numeracyAbility to structure & prioritise work effectively through close cooperation with the team as a wholeAbility to communicate effectively to internal and external clients, both verbally & in writing with the confidence to engage with a variety of people (clients, colleagues, stakeholders and sub-contractors alike) and the aptitude to rationally explain, explore and discuss technical issues and capture feedbackSelf-motivation, enthusiasm, hard-working, with ambition and driveExcellent research and report writing skillsStrong attention to detail.Ability to work as part of a team, collaborating with colleagues, client and stakeholders as appropriate and independently without losing initiative & focusAbility to work flexibly under pressure, responding to changing project and programme demandsWe celebrate diversity, including neurodiversity, and believe it enriches our team.
