Job Description – Retail Shop Supervisor About Retail The Retail Services department operates three retail stores on and off campus with the aim to provide the students with the finest quality, best value products and services, served in a stimulating and well-maintained environment. The role of Retail Supervisor within this department involves all the duties of a shop operation, stock ordering and planning, staff training, financial management of till systems, liaising with the Retail Manager and University partners and serving customers and delivering high standards of customer service at all times. This role is predominantly based at our kiosk shop at Ninewells Hospital, although at other times you may be required to work in one of our other outlets. Full training will be given. The Role To be responsible for the day to day operation and local maintenance of the retail computer system including end of day procedures, printing daily and weekly reports, updating the retail price file with new product listings and amendments, printing shelf labels. To liaise with EPOS supplier for maintenance and operational issues To manage and develop the shop and its services, maximising sales and identifying areas for further operational potential effectively and efficiently To have responsibility for all merchandising and pricing in accordance with Retail procedures To have responsibility for all cash and stock procedures To lead and develop the team, assisting the Retail Services Manager with recruitment and induction, identifying training needs and delivery of training and coaching, performance management and discipline and grievance procedures effectively and efficiently To plan staff rotas, ensuring adequate cover for absences, monitoring sickness and conducting back to work interviews To be responsible for Health and Safety of staff and customers, undertaking risk assessments and audits To ensure compliance with HACCP documentation To action faulty equipment reports/repairs To assist staff from other shops and departments as required and any other duties that may reasonably be expected by the Retail Services Manager The Person Good Communication and Leadership Skills Ability to operate autonomously Strong Team player Professional, polite and helpful Responsible attitude Efficient and productive Flexibility to working hours Friendly and approachable personality Qualifications/Knowledge/Experience Level 2 Food Hygiene certificate Level 2 Health & Safety Retail experience in a fast-moving convenience sector Hours of Work This is a permanent, part time role, at 30 hours per week. Any five days from seven worked, including evenings and weekends. Hours to be worked at any outlet as required by the needs of the business. Salary The role is remunerated at £20,592.00 per annum and is a Grade 3 role. No additional payments or allowances and no contractual entitlement to overtime.
