Job Overview We are seeking a qualified and experienced Electrical Test Engineers to conduct Periodic Inspection and Testing (PIT) of electrical installations. You will have a strong understanding of Electrical Installation Condition Reporting (EICR), particularly the identification and classification of C1 (Danger Present), C2 (Potentially Dangerous), and C3 (Improvement Recommended) defects. You will also need great communication skills as you will be working within the social housing sector. Key Responsibilities Inspection & Testing Responsibilities: Perform Electrical Installation Condition Reports (EICRs) Conduct visual and functional inspections, followed by dead and live testing, including: Continuity of Protective Conductors Insulation Resistance Tests Polarity Checks Earth Fault Loop Impedance (Zs, Ze) Tests Prospective Fault Current (PFC, PSC) Measurements RCD Testing Functional Testing of AFDDs (Arc Fault Detection Devices), SPDs (Surge Protective Devices), and RCBOs Identify and code electrical defects per IET and NICEIC guidelines Documentation & Reporting Remedial Works & Compliance Aico Smoke Alarm Installation Required Qualifications & Experience Essential: Level 3 NVQ Diploma in Electrical Installation (City & Guilds 2357/2365) or equivalent. City & Guilds 2391-52 (Inspection & Testing) or 2394/2395. 18th Edition Wiring Regulations (BS 7671:2018A2:2022) certification. Strong knowledge of IET Guidance Note 3, NICEIC & NAPIT EICR coding guidelines. Experience conducting EICRs and remedial works in domestic and commercial properties. Familiarity with Aico SmartLINK technology and BS 5839-6 smoke alarm installation requirements. Full UK driving license. Desirable: City & Guilds 2377 (PAT Testing). Experience with electrical vehicle (EV) charger installations (BS 7671 Section 722). Experience working with HMO fire safety compliance. PASMA/IPAF certifications for working at height. Solar / renewable experience (BPEC) DMEV / MVHR (Mechanical Ventilation Heat Recovery) experience advantageous Key Skills & Competencies: Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to diagnose electrical faults efficiently. Excellent understanding of electrical safety compliance, risk assessment, and remedial actions. Ability to work independently and maintain high-quality workmanship.
