Design Manager - Building Division - Main Contractor - County Antrim - £50-60K+ and Package

Your new role
As a Design Manager within this main contractor's building division, your role will encompass overseeing internal and external consultant teams, controlling the development of works from concept to completion, including the manufacturing and installation phases. Responsibilities include (but are not limited to):
1. Managing the design process using commercial, contractual, programme/time awareness and technical expertise.
2. Reviewing and assisting with tender opportunities & value engineering.
3. Engaging with and managing the external consultant and sub-contractor design teams.
4. Preparing, managing, monitoring and reporting on the Design Information Release Schedule, Design Programme and Design Responsibility Matrix.
5. Ensuring the design process complies with current legislation, standards and codes of practice.
6. Developing and implementing the organisation's drawing and document control systems & protocols.
7. Reviewing and assisting the Project Manager and Project Planner in developing the construction programme in conjunction with the design programme.
8. Assisting the Commercial Team in preparing and developing the procurement schedule.
9. Leading and chairing project design team meetings and coordination workshops.
10. Assessing and reviewing project design information for content, quality, health & safety, CDM and compliance with ERs.
11. Assisting the Project Manager & QS in reviewing the scope of all variation and change control requests.
12. Implementing and managing the site RFI process & register.
13. Liaising with clients, contractors, subcontractors, statutory authorities and stakeholders as required to build key project relationships.
14. Managing client expectations and requirements, providing support & advice to both sides regarding their obligations in the development of building design.
15. Ensuring design information is of the right quality and keeps pace with project timescales.
16. Striving to eliminate health & safety risks in the design and financial risks during construction.
17. Assisting in on-site SHEQ and preparation and management of the site QA and ITP files.
18. Assisting in the development of company BIM standards and BIM implementation on projects where required.
19. Undertaking Quality Inspections, reviewing preparation and content of site quality plans file / ITPs and reporting on site quality issues.
What you'll need to succeed
A relevant design/construction related qualification (Architecture/Architectural Technology & Management/Construction & Engineering Management/BIM & Project Management), with demonstrable experience within the industry in a relevant/associated role. Strong leadership skills, high attention to detail and accuracy, and IT literacy are essential. Knowledge of construction design methodologies, work-streams and innovative technologies/software is required. Specific knowledge of BIM processes and procedures would be advantageous, as would knowledge/experience of working with Document Control, Viewpoint or equivalent and previous involvement on large-scale construction projects within a multi-disciplinary environment.
