Job Description:
The primary function of this role will be to prepare, paint, coat, protect, wrap and/or vinyl any variety of parts, equipment, and cars for Team Penske, with a primary focus on the NASCAR program.
Responsibilities:
1. Prepare any variety of items to be painted or wrapped including sanding, body filling, smoothing joints, and fine-tuning to meet Team Penske requirements as directed by management and engineering.
2. Paint any variety of parts, equipment, and cars for Team Penske, with a primary focus on the NASCAR program.
3. Maintain constant communication of needs and recommended supply orders to be submitted by the Paint Department Manager.
4. Document preparation and installation routines and measurements in a manner that can be repeated consistently by others as needed.
5. Communicate with supply vendors, marketing, engineering, and quality control personnel regularly, working to continually improve processes for speed and accuracy to ensure repeatable performance, matching supplied art, and in alignment with appropriate racing series regulations (e.g., NASCAR, IndyCar).
6. Prepare bare chassis for painting by placing it on a rotisserie and pressure washing as directed.
7. Operate sanders, grinders, and other fabrication equipment while wearing Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) to ensure safety regulations are maintained.
8. Ensure work area and equipment are properly maintained and meet safety standards.
9. Pull wraps and remove adhesives post-event.
10. Travel as needed for rapid response at racetracks and for other functions supported and participated in by Team Penske.
11. Perform repair work to vehicles and composite panels.
12. Prepare parts while maintaining serial numbers and other identifiers.
Qualifications:
1. Minimum of High School diploma.
2. Experience and ability to buff and blend paint repairs.
3. Minimum computer skills and proficiency required, including familiarity with Microsoft Office.
4. Ability to manage projects and meet deadlines.
5. 3 years of paint and body experience preferred.
6. 3 years of wrap and vinyl experience preferred.
7. Experience meeting tight tolerances to ensure specifications are met.
8. Ability to liaise with team members to ensure projects are completed on time to specification and quality standards.
9. Ability to lift and carry objects up to 50 lbs.
10. Ability to climb inside and under cars.
11. Ability to push cars around the facility.
12. Ability to stand, squat, or kneel for extended periods of time.
