The Assistant Quarry Manager will support the Unit Manager in achieving the agreed-upon safety, environmental, cost, quality, and service objectives. This will be accomplished through the successful and effective management of the operational team. The role also involves helping the Unit Manager in driving continuous improvement of efficiencies and existing performance levels within the quarry operations. Key Responsibilities: Assist the Unit Manager in leading, directing, and managing the operational line management team. Ensure the operational area meets its performance objectives in safety, environmental standards, cost control, quality, and service delivery. Collaborate with the Unit Manager to identify and implement strategies for improving efficiencies and performance levels. Support the operational team in achieving key performance indicators and business goals. Performance Emphasis: Safety: Ensure compliance with all safety regulations and work towards zero incidents. Environmental: Contribute to sustainability practices and minimize environmental impact. Cost: Help manage operational costs effectively while optimizing resources. Quality: Maintain high-quality standards and continuously improve processes. Service: Ensure high levels of service delivery to internal and external stakeholders. Achieve optimum production levels in line with commercial activity at the lowest operation cost. Continually advance operational improvements to improve efficiency with the production functions. Working with the logistics function ensures operational procedures are such that highest customer service levels can be achieved at the most efficient operational cost. Working with the technical function ensures operational procedures are such that the highest quality levels are achieved at the most efficient operational cost. Working with the Unit Manager to ensure all operational management information is accurate, relevant and is used effectively to assist in the management of the business & progressing all profit enhancing opportunities. Ensure that full assistance to the operational unit management team so as it can be adequately resourced & that personnel are trained & developed. Assets should be in place to ensure the business plan can be delivered Ensure personnel are highlighted & effectively developed to progress through the business & to assist in a developing a succession line is in place to facilitate this activity. Directing Provide leadership within the site team, ensuring that operational goals & expectations are understood & personnel are proactively developed. Ensure operational control mechanisms are effectively implemented covering all relevant aspects (including Health & Safety, environmental controls, capital project management control, revenue spend controls).
