As our business looks todeliver its ambitious strategy of growth, we are looking for a Lead ResearchScientist in the Biopolymers Team, based at our Ditton site in Widnes,Cheshire. The purpose of this role is to develop innovative, sustainableproducts for applications in Consumer Care and Life Sciences. Specifically,you will devise and perform experiments for the synthesis of carbohydrate- andprotein-based products and will have the opportunity to lead subsequent processscale-up.

1. Strong foundation in chemical synthesis with expertise in natural product chemistry
2. Experience with process scale-up and design with a view towards manufacturing scales
3. Preparative-scale laboratory experience developing enzyme-based processes
4. Flexible and focused team player with growth mindset
5. Excellent project management, planning and organisational skills with the ability to adapt to changing project requirements
6. An effective communicator, capable of building working relationships within an interdisciplinary team and with external partners
7. Able to develop innovative and creative solutions to problems using state-of-the-art know-how
8. Expertise on downstream process development
9. Strong analytical chemistry skillset
10. Experience as a leader managing, supervising or mentoring others
What You’ll Be Doing:

11. Suggest innovative ideas for new products
12. Develop R&D pipelines for new products as structured projects
13. Conceive, plan and execute lab-scale experiments to develop new reactions towards carbohydrate and protein-based products
14. Develop the overall process (including downstream processing steps) with an outlook towards large-scale manufacture
15. Oversee pilot and manufacturing scale production trials for new products
