CONTRACT TYPE: Fixed-Term – 12 months Expected interview date: 24 th January 2025 We are the University of Cumbria, for and from Cumbria and our localities, rooted in serving our communities, with people, place and partnership at our heart. Now is a very exciting time to be joining us because we are delivering a new "Towards 2030" strategic plan focused on making the most of our three most valuable assets; People, Place and Partnerships, to become a catalyst for economic well-being for our region, nationally and internationally. The Library Services team is seeking maternity cover for the Lancaster Campus Learning Developer - Integrated Foundation Year (0.5 FTE). The role is based at our Lancaster campus and will work closely with another Learning Developer (Integrated Foundation Year) based at our Carlisle campus. Working closely with Integrated Foundation Year (IFY) academic colleagues and students, you will champion and support a diverse group of IFY students, who may have non-traditional qualifications, to effectively transition into undergraduate level study and progress to the next level. Depending on the time of year and students’ needs, support might include: timetabled sessions to complement the IFY academic skills sessions; bespoke group sessions on demand; drop-ins; scheduled 1 to 1 appointments; and email support for quick queries and writing development feedback (this would not involve subject specific knowledge and expertise). Student Services colleagues work collaboratively with each other, with students, professional services and academics to provide an integrated student-centred approach that supports students to live well and learn well. You will act as primary point of contact at the Lancaster campus and work together with the Carlisle campus based Learning Developer to signpost students and staff across both campuses to other specialist services, such as money advice, health and wellbeing. Generally, working patterns tend to be within core office hours Monday to Friday, 9.00 to 17.00; we would be looking for the postholder to provide appropriate cover across the working week in collaboration with the other learning developer, ideally aligned to when students are timetabled to be on campus. There may occasionally be evening/weekend work to support operational needs. We are open to negotiating working patterns in line with business needs and personal circumstances, whilst best supporting student needs and balancing work across teams. Whilst there is scope for some hybrid working at times, operational needs mean we are looking for staff to be present on campus to support students as part of our Lancaster communities. Informal Enquiries: Sandie Donnelly | Academic Skills Manager | Sandie.Donnellycumbria.ac.uk We offer a comprehensive set of staff benefits which includes a competitive salary, 35 hour full-time working week, 33 days holiday plus bank holidays, hybrid working in line with business need, and an excellent pension scheme with 8% employer contribution.
