Location & hours • Falmer (Brighton) / Home Hybrid Working, with occasional site visits in the South East • Full time Monday to Friday 37 hours a week; however Southern Water offer a flexible working policy Package • Salary: Competitive • Company and performance-related bonus • Generous pension up to 11% company contribution • 25 days annual leave • Health Cash Plan • Life assurance equal to 4x salary • Salary sacrifice electric car scheme (after 6 months service) • Full funded eye tests • Two paid volunteering days a year • Occupational health service • Discounts with over 800 popular retailers • Digital GP service • Study support may be available for job-related qualifications • Competitive maternity leave and flexible return to work options • Cycle to work scheme • Free parking • Located close to a vibrant city and live & work in a region that includes more than 800km of pristine coastline • Office located close to local amenities (gym, train station, good rail connections, etc) Job Overview Technical: • Provide technical capability on wastewater hydraulic modelling projects as part of a project team. • Assist the Principal/Senior Engineer in the management / co-ordination of projects. • Gather, produce and assimilate information to assist in preparing designs. • Checking datasheets, calculations, drawings etc. • Report preparation • Undertaking quality assurance checks. • Resolution of complex design problems. • Work may require travel in the UK to other offices and / or sites • Undertake own continuing professional development under guidance from line managers. • Provide guidance to, and manage the work of Assistant / Graduate Engineers and Technicians working on the same projects. • Research and seek industry best practice to assist in provision of innovative standardisation, including promotion of digital design concepts. About You Qualifications • MEng/BEng/BSc or HNC in an Engineering, Environmental or numerate science related subject. • Ideally achieved professional membership of a relevant institution or progressing towards this. Experience • Technical background in delivering wastewater hydraulic modelling projects within the UK Water Industry to time and budget whilst in compliance with quality, safety and environmental procedures. • Thorough knowledge and understanding of the engineering theory and principles behind wastewater hydraulic modelling. Skills • Full driving licence. • Competent in MS Office • Good communication and presentation skills. • Ability to work on own initiative on technical matters. • Knowledge of established procedures in resolving engineering problems and recognises when a problem is similar to one which has happened before. • Participate in teams and groups and co-operate with others.
