Within the borough we have award winning parks, open spaces and listed heritage sites. As part of our drive to improve services for vulnerable children and young people within the borough, Bexley has a multidisciplinary Early Intervention and Specialist Advice Service (EISAS), which works closely with schools identifying and supporting children with SEN or AEN, as well as supporting and training school SENCOS and other staff. The Early Intervention team is part of EISAS and includes professionals from a variety of disciplines in education including Educational Psychologists, Social Emotional and Mental Health Teachers, Early Intervention Team Social Workers, SEN Strategic Support Partners and AEN/SEN Support Partners. Staff work closely with schools, but also undertake relevant work outside of school settings. About the Role The focus of the teams is on early intervention, seeking to provide support to schools, children, young people and their families at the SEN Support stage, who require additional help to achieve successful educational and social outcomes. Providing support at an early stage will enable needs to be addressed and ensure that the numbers needing higher level services will reduce over time. The Role: Management of one of the two Early Intervention Teams that support schools in Bexley. This will include organising team meetings, day to day management of staff in the team as well as performance management Organise and attend the termly planning meetings the team has with schools: to ensure work is allocated appropriately and that minutes are taken and distributed. To act in an advisory capacity to schools To liaise closely with other team members to coherently plan interventions and prevent the need for higher threshold services arising in terms of learning and inclusion. To support the delivery of Bexley’s safety valve project. To support the Head of Early Intervention and Specialist Advice Service in other tasks such as coordinating SLAs with schools, data collection and analysis and other organisational tasks. You will have significant experience either in teaching or working with children and a thorough understanding of schools and education - particularly in the field of SEN. Senior EP or Assistant Head teacher experience is desirable. You will also need to be highly organised.
