Position Summary: The role involves supporting the Registered Manager and/or Deputy Manager in fulfilling the objectives outlined in the Statement of Purpose while upholding the organization's mission and values. You will assist in managing the staff team to effectively address the needs of children and young people. Direct engagement with these individuals will also be part of your responsibilities. Your role includes planning each shift and allocating necessary resources, as well as collaborating with other professionals to achieve the best outcomes for the young residents. You will provide supervision and guidance to the staff in accordance with established Quality Standards, as directed by the Registered Manager and/or Deputy Manager. Key Responsibilities: Supporting Young People: Ensure all staff are familiar with each child's care plan and understand their roles in its implementation. Participate in reviews and planning meetings to advocate for the best interests of young people. Engage directly with young individuals, serving as a positive role model. Maintain accurate records to document information and facilitate regular monitoring and evaluation. Lead children’s meetings and encourage consultation with young people on various matters. Act in the capacity of an appropriate adult when needed. Staff Management: Provide guidance and direction regarding staff roles and responsibilities. Oversee shift planning to ensure operations run smoothly during your duty. Offer informal advice and support to staff on everyday issues. Serve as the “on-call manager” to offer out-of-hours assistance in the absence of the Registered Manager. Conduct one-on-one supervision sessions with staff, adhering to Quality Standards. Contribute to team meetings to enhance communication and foster staff development. Ensure that all staff adhere to the organization’s policies and Quality Standards. Assist with recruiting and retaining staff, including conducting induction training for newcomers. Supervise new employees during their probationary periods. Balance a management approach that combines direction with opportunities for staff to make decisions. Identify training needs for staff and support their professional development. Conduct annual performance evaluations for team members. Address any issues related to staff conduct and competence. Carry out management investigations as necessary. Assist the Registered Manager in fostering professional growth through appropriate task delegation. General Duties: Collaborate with the Registered Manager and/or Deputy Manager to implement all elements of the Statement of Purpose. Conduct in-house workshops on childcare topics to enhance training and improve practices. Operate company vehicles in accordance with established policies. Work on a rotating schedule based on the needs of young people. Ensure resources are allocated properly and maintain accurate financial records under the direction of the Registered Manager and/or Deputy Manager. Receive supervision in line with Quality Standards and take charge of your own professional development. Complete any additional reasonable tasks as assigned by the Registered Manager and/or Deputy Manager. Act in place of the Registered Manager and/or Deputy Manager when required.
