Thurrock Council is on a major change journey and is looking for people to help in the delivery of this. Following the Council being put into intervention in 2022 a vast amount of work has already been successfully undertaken to ensure the Council is back on track and moving towards financial stability, but there is more to do. The Council is currently recruiting to a number of roles across the finance team to help drive the Councils new Corporate Plan 'A Fresh Start for Thurrock’, which sets out how they will operate over the next five years as it recovers and rebuilds trust with residents and communities. The finance team will play a hugely important role in securing the Councils future. The 4 Accountant roles in the services will report to a Finance Business Partner and support the delivery of a business partnering service. They will take responsibility for certain cost centres working closely with budget holders, assisting with budget setting and monthly reporting, anticipating and identifying financial issues affecting the business and producing robust financial and commercial analysis. The successful candidates will have the opportunity to develop and grow their skills, giving them the ability to move into Business Partner roles in the future. The 4 roles are supporting Adults and Health, Place and Corporate, Children’s and Housing. To be suitable for the role you should be at least part qualified with previous budgeting experience and the ability to build relationships with stakeholders. Previous experience within the public sector is desirable but not essential. We are looking for ambitious finance professionals who are excited by a challenge and being part of a transformation programme that will have a massively positive impact on the local community. If this is you, do please get in touch. The closing date for these roles is Monday 10th February.
