An exciting opportunity has arisen to lead our teams working on the Isles of Scilly. We are looking for a forward-thinking and enthusiastic hospital and community manager to join our experienced team working on the islands. The successful candidate could be an existing or aspiring leader who will support in leading a multidisciplinary team to deliver care to the people who live on the islands both in the hospital and within their own home.
In 2024, funding was secured nationally for the development of a new integrated health and social care facility, and the work to develop this facility, as well as integrating our teams with partners both on the islands and the mainland of Cornwall, has begun. This is an exciting time for the delivery of care on the islands, and the successful candidate will be an important leader in driving this work forward and working closely with our partners. Alongside the new facility, there is an aim to develop and continue an integrated model of care that supports the needs of the island communities and future-proof our services on the islands for years to come.
Main duties of the job
This is a unique opportunity to make a significant positive impact on the delivery of care working within a remote island setting. You will be supported by the leadership team linked directly to the hospital and services we provide on the islands as part of the West Integrated Care Area, as well as partners on the islands across both health and social care.
We are looking for a colleague who:
1. Has proven experience in managing a care delivery team.
2. A commitment to the highest standards of clinical care, supporting people to live, age, and die well on the islands.
3. The ability to work well under pressure in what can be a complex and challenging environment.
4. Excellent organisational and time management skills, being able to prioritise demanding workloads to meet deadlines.
5. Experience of working across both inpatient and community services, including minor injuries, inpatient care, and community care.
About us
We're an NHS community and mental health provider Trust based in Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly. We deliver community and hospital-based care to improve people's physical and mental health. We also provide specialist support to people with dementia or a learning disability.
We are a people organisation, and people matter to us. As part of the team, you'll help support the health and wellbeing of the people who live and visit this beautiful part of the UK.
Over 4,000 people make up the Trust. This includes doctors, nurses, therapists, plus admin and support staff.
We work in people's homes, in community clinics and bases. Some staff work from one of our 13 community hospitals. Our aspiration is to have great people, provide great care, be a great place to work, and a great partner.
Approximately 568,000 people live here. A third of people who live in Cornwall are supported by acute hospital services in Devon. As a result, we also work closely with our partners in Devon. In the summer, and during other holidays, lots of people choose to visit the area. This increases the numbers of people who use our services.
