Catering Operations Manager

Hours: 36 per week
Salary: £62,685 - £74,858 per year
Purpose of Job
To deliver an effective and efficient Catering service to all Units ensuring that on-site Catering teams are adhering to agreed protocols and SLA deliverables encompassing menu planning, stock management and that all statutory compliance is being met.
The post holder will be accountable and provide strategic direction in terms of ensuring that the service is delivered to the agreed service standards and that quality outputs in terms of food products and staff duties are aligned to the Service Level Agreement.
Not limited to:
1. Strategic Direction and Development: The post holder will be required to project manage the planning, delivery and implementation of catering initiatives on behalf of the Council, e.g. SRA, New Scottish School Food Legislation, Soil Association Food for Life Catering Mark to ensure standards are maintained and all possible methods of achieving further standards are pursued.
2. The post holder will act as the in-house catering specialist for Catering liaising with Council departments and external bodies to develop the service provision to ensure the Council is proactive in implementing and monitoring Food, Health and Wellbeing policy and guidance such as the Schools (Health Promotion and Nutrition) (Scotland) Act (2007), Better Eating, Better Learning and any future food, health and wellbeing policy and guidance.
3. The post holder will be required to develop and continuously review all Catering operations and devise proactive ways to improve efficiency and encourage further uptake of services and collaborative working within the team internally and corporately.
4. They will present reports and attend meetings to report on catering initiatives, performance against statutory and legislative requirements relating to the catering provision.
5. Statutory Compliance: Provide expert advice, guidance and reports to Council committees and Officers on regulatory requirements, developments in legislation, Government initiatives, policy, national guidance current initiatives and best practice. Create and maintain training manuals to meet the requirements of new legislation.
This post is regulated work with children and/or protected adults under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act 2007. The preferred candidate will be required to join the PVG Scheme or undergo a PVG Scheme update check. Where an individual has spent a continuous period of 3 months or more out with the UK in the last 5 years, an Overseas Criminal Record Check will be required. You will be required to provide this check. An unconditional offer of employment and commencement in the post will be subject to the outcome of both these pre-employment checks being deemed satisfactory.

Our salary range typically reflects the initial starting salary and annually increases until it reaches the top of the range.
