We are seeking an Industrial Placement Coordinator who will be responsible for the coordination of the industrial experience requirement, which forms part of the MEng qualification undertaken by the Undergraduate students and will play the key role in the management of student placements. As part of the Teaching Office team, you will head up the Industrial Placement office and will be supported by an Industrial Placement Administrator. In addition to supporting students in making applications and developing their ability to demonstrate their skills to potential employers, this office is responsible for establishing and maintaining links with suitable employers. Additionally, you will support the Head of Department in ensuring that suitable risk-assessment and management of risks is performed with respect to student placements.
The successful applicant will be educated to degree level or possess an equivalent level of practical experience. You will have excellent negotiating skills with the ability to act as an intermediary between students and organisations. Industrial or commercial experience in a customer-orientated role is essential and experience in an engineering environment or the educational profession would be desirable. The role is primarily office based, but you will also be expected to visit other sites/ locations for the purposes of improved employer relations.

The Department has over 150 Academic Staff, over 250 Research Staff and approximately 200 members of assistant staff. The Teaching Office at the Central Cambridge site administers all aspects of undergraduate teaching and deals with over a thousand students. The Teaching Office is responsible for the integration of teaching functions across the department's six divisions (each of which is the size of a small to medium department elsewhere in the University), and also those of other faculties with which the department shares courses.
