Overall Purpose of the Role:
To ensure that production equipment on site is maintained correctly, support with installations and upgrades of equipment and support in breakdown situations. Working alongside a Production Shift covering days and nights working.
Reporting to: Electrical Foreman
Main Duties & Responsibilities:
• General mill-wide electrical & mechanical maintenance work and fault finding on paper machines and auxiliary plant.
• Repair or replace various types of LV electrical systems such as three phase circuits, single phase circuits & control circuits.
• Bench work including circuit wiring, motor repairs, fabrication, bench testing etc
• Undertake motor maintenance activities on both AC & DC motors.
• Fault finding and use of test equipment.
• Liaise with Electrical Foreman regarding the condition of equipment to allow for financial planning in replacement and refurbishment activities.
• Participate in the commissioning of new or modified equipment.
• Support with machine start up duties.
• Maintain, repair & update existing pneumatic and hydraulic systems.
• Maintain the outstanding work list and work to priorities, in conjunction with other departments and within the Engineering Team.
• Ensure that switchrooms and drive stations are kept to the expected standards.
• Support in a breakdown situation.
• Ensure the Health & Safety of employees and contractors around your work and ensure that Safe Systems of Work are followed.
• Ensure all accidents and dangerous incidents are reported and appropriate action taken.
Essential Experience & Knowledge:
• L3 Advanced Apprenticeship or equivalent in related discipline (essential).
• At least 3 years post apprenticeship experience in industry (essential).
• A minimum of 3 years’ work experience as a Maintenance Engineer (essential).
• The above gained in an industrial environment (essential).
• Experience of DC and AC motors, drives and control systems (highly desirable).
• Ability to fault find on both electrical and mechanical systems with and without drawings (advantageous).
• Experience of work with pumps & gearboxes (advantageous).
• Awareness and understanding of electrical theory (advantageous).
• Understanding of pneumatic & hydraulic principles (advantageous).
• Familiarity with using Maintenance Management Systems (desirable).

• Clear and concise communicator.
• Strong health and safety awareness.
• Proactive attitude to identifying and rectifying faults.
