Key Purpose of Role-Technical Director To be responsible for co-ordination and achievement of all architectural and engineering matters. To ensure the co-ordination and discharge of all necessary investigations and conditions attached to both planning consents and building regulation/warranty approvals. To ensure the timely delivery of complete and accurate technical information for use by other Departments in accordance with agreed timescales and targets. The structured management of bonds and other liabilities to keep such exposure to a minimum. Key Duties / Responsibilities-Technical Director From a development’s inception to completion, provide leadership to deliver all technical design, approvals and subsequent infrastructure requirements for all projects encompassing site investigations and evaluations, architectural and engineering design, existing and proposed statutory utility requirements, LABC/NHBC approvals, statutory/CDM regulations, local authority planning, road and sewer agreements and adoptions and investigations of, and commercial solutions to any technical problems encountered to deliver forecast completion numbers and profit targets in line with Regional expectations. Through the life of Developments from feasibility to site completion deploy resources and develop work programmes together with the Engineering Manager prioritising activities so that they are delivered to plan and delays unexpected or avoidable do not occur. Through the life of Developments from feasibility to site completion provide technical support and advice to the Construction Team together with the Commercial and Land Departments for land appraisals and associated activities. Actively manage communications and operational interfaces such that all key client groups including staff, heads of function, external consultants and other bodies are aligned and working towards achieving common goals and objectives. Promote value engineered solutions to problems encountered. Provide effective leadership to the technical department promoting a strong team spirit and fostering a high-performance culture, especially in the areas of performance management and people/skills development, to improve resource productivity and engagement thereby optimising individual and team effectiveness and their contribution to overall business performance. To ensure that all developments are designed to Harron Homes company standards and maximise potential value and marketability within an evolving market and planning system. Lead by example and encourage others to become role models for the Company’s values establishing integrity and performance standards and expectations to support and underpin Company financial, product design / specification, environmental, security and legal, health and safety and people management objectives. Work effectively as part of the senior management team and taking a ‘whole company’ perspective to managing operational and strategic issues, presenting innovative ideas and positively influencing business practice that further the profitability and operating performance of the technical department and the wider-company. Any other duties reasonably requested in line with business requirements. Provide duties under CDM 2015 as “Principal Designer” and “Designer” as appropriate to the role within the Technical Department. Qualifications A recognised formal engineering qualification or demonstrable significant experience in relevant fields. Experience Significant managerial experience of engineering and technical teams. Key knowledge and skills Project Management of Civil Engineering Infrastructure. Knowledge of water and sewerage design general municipal law and administration procedures. Detailed knowledge and understanding of the design and construction processes. Knowledge of utility companies, procedures, license and legislating framework. Planning procedures, development control and building regulations requirements.
