Our client, a distinguished entity in the automotive sector, is seeking an F1 Performance Engineer to join their team. You will be responsible for optimising car performance through simulation, data analysis, and ensuring the vehicle is set-up to the required specifications for both race and test events.
Key Responsibilities:
Promote teamwork and effective communications across all personnel and departments.
Support the Race Engineer in all performance and data analysis aspects of car operation.
Collaborate with the Driver Coach to identify balance limitations and suggest setup directions.
Perform lap time simulations for pre-event preparation, analysis during events, and post-event correlation/analysis.
Suggest setup changes and options based on simulation and/or track data analysis.
Manage set-up sheets / files for car build and simulation purposes.
Monitor telemetry data from both reliability and performance points of view.
Run simulator sessions when required
Develop necessary data analysis tools to aid in analysis (e.g., Matlab/ Simulink/ Excel VBA).
Manage overlays for the driver during/post-session.
Job Requirements:
Engineering degree.
Experience as a trackside engineer, preferably in Formula 1, as either a Race or Performance Engineer.
Experience in other Formulas would be beneficial.
Specialised Knowledge and Skills:
Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
Technical background in racing car performance and vehicle dynamics.
Technical background in car/system design, operation, build, and preparation.
Ability to work to a high standard in stressful and time-sensitive situations.
Excellent time management and prioritisation skills.
Team player capable of working well with personnel at all levels.
Equipment and Applications:
Knowledge of ATLAS.
Experience with MATLAB.
Good understanding of lap time simulation tools and simulator environments
