The University of Northampton is seeking to recruit an enthusiastic, innovative and forward-thinking lecturer to join our expanding physiotherapy team. This is an exciting time to join the University as we are expanding our physiotherapy provision to include and undergraduate course and apprenticeship route. This is in addition to our existing pre-registration master’s course.
The post will include teaching upon and leading of modules, developing learning materials, ensuring our provision is contemporary as well as meeting the needs of our learners. You will be required to provide interactive and engaging teaching sessions, contribute to academic marking, placement visiting tutor, personal academic tutor and admission/placement activity.
The University of Northampton’s teaching ethos is underpinned by a contemporary and research informed approach, utilising active blended learning to enhance student engagement and develop the critical problem-solving skills required in current and future practice.
This post requires effective communication across the faculty to develop teaching and learning that embeds inter professional collaboration, service user engagement and simulation-based learning within our modern campus environment.
You will be supported by an existing academic course team and be in a position to provide learners with expert subject knowledge as well as supportive pastoral advice. You will have opportunities to engage with practice partners and clinical educators through the post, to ensure an ongoing high quality placement experience for students across a variety of sectors and settings.

About you
The successful candidate will be hardworking, passionate about your profession and a team player. This is demonstrated through your high standards relating to quality and your efficient use of time within your work.
You must be registered with the Health and Care Professions Council, and ideally be educated to at least MSc level with evidence of active continuing professional development. Those without a master’s will still be considered for this post.
You will have clinical experience that allows you to enrich the student experience on a UK based Physiotherapy curriculum, ensuring learners are ready for their future careers.
Evidence of experience relating to working with higher education learners either in educational or clinical settings is essential.
As an individual that possesses a contemporary, research informed and forward-thinking approach to physiotherapy practice, you will be able to work as part of a wider team for support. You will have an awareness of the quality assurance processes involved in physiotherapy education and how to implement good practice and monitor these throughout.
Experience of providing successful supervision to dissertation students and ongoing pastoral student support is desirable. Support and training on internal systems and process will be provided.
A high level of organisation and prioritisation skills are essential to this role, to enable effective time management of tasks within different work streams to required deadlines. You will utilise effective communication skills to work collaboratively across a variety of professional teams.
Qualifications
Essential;
Degree qualification or equivalent in relevant subject
Relevant professional qualification required. HCPC Physiotherapist registered
Professional Recognition as HEA Fellow (D2) or teaching qualification recognised by HESA, or willingness to obtain within an agreed timescale
Desirable;
Master’s degree in relevant subject
Doctorate in relevant subject, completed or within 12 months of completion
