As the Head of Highways and Transportation, you will be a pivotal member of the Director of Operations Senior Management Team, collaborating closely with colleagues across the Operations Department and engaging with both internal and external stakeholders. Your mission is to deliver high-performing services that align with the Council’s vision, priorities, and commitments. As an innovative and strategic leader, you’ll shape the future of Highways and Transportation Services, driving sustainable strategies and creative solutions to enhance service delivery today and into the future.
In this role, you will manage both the strategic and operational aspects of all Highways and Transportation functions, ensuring these are in line with national and local priorities and executed with a strong customer focus. As the Council’s lead advisor on Highways and Transportation, your remit will include Highways Asset Management and maintenance, Traffic Management, Transportation, and parking services.
Your next role
In your day-to-day responsibilities, you will adopt a hands-on approach leading a team of professionals across all areas of the Council’s Highways and Transportation functions.
Reporting to the Director of Operations, you will be accountable for all service elements, providing clear direction and support to foster a culture of operational excellence. You will champion innovative practices to enhance service delivery and uphold the Council’s reputation, ensuring that our residents are always at the heart of everything we do.
You must be fluent in the English language (as a requirement of Part 7 of the Immigration Act “for the effective performance of a customer-facing role”).
