Role Description
Job Purpose:
1. To fully own all aspects of the technical management for your defined customer(s) and to be the principal technical point of contact for your customer(s) within Princes Limited.
2. To ensure strong and proactive customer relationships are in place with Customer and Manufacturing sites linked to your allocated customers.
3. To develop, drive, manage and deliver the customers' strategic technical agenda and technical plan within Princes, its manufacturing sites, and its supply base.
4. To work closely with commercial account colleagues to ensure that customer(s) business unit objectives and plans are met.
Dimensions:
1. Reporting to the Technical Controller (Customer).
2. Internal contacts – Commercial business unit colleagues, Site technical & operations teams, NPD, and other central business teams.
3. External contacts – customer(s) Technical teams; traded supplier technical teams.
4. Travel within the UK, EU, and on occasion worldwide if required.
Principal Responsibilities:
1. To be the principal technical point of contact for customer technical managers/technologists for the customer accounts you are responsible for.
2. Develop strong and proactive relationships with customers, internal colleagues, and manufacturing sites linked to your customer account(s).
3. Conduct regular technical reviews with customer contacts and update on projects and specific improvement activities.
4. Ensure that all customer requests and tasks are effectively and proactively managed, maintaining accurate work plans.
5. Ensure that appropriate customer systems, reports, and KPIs are maintained, with regular reviews as required by customers.
6. Provide analysed monthly customer KPI reports.
7. Develop where required customer Joint Quality Plans to ensure that joint business objectives are clear with defined targets and delivery plans are in place.
8. Support manufacturing site Technical Managers (Princes and Traded sites) in the implementation of customer Policies and Codes of Practice and improvement plans.
9. Conduct regular reviews of customer requirements and ensure changes are effectively communicated to supplying sites and that customer requirements are effectively implemented.
10. Support manufacturing sites ahead of customer audits and visits to ensure compliance with customer Policies and Codes of Practice and that appropriate progress with projects and improvement plans is being made.
11. Coordinate, manage, and attend customer technical visits to UK and international sites. Ensure that any resulting issues and/or opportunities are fully addressed/explored.
12. Share best practice across sites and head office to deliver the most effective solutions for our customers.
13. Manage quality or food safety issues on behalf of customers, liaising with site and group technical teams as well as with suppliers to ensure rapid and satisfactory resolution.
14. Participate in or lead projects as relevant and required, e.g. NPD, process development, KPI improvement.
15. Attend customer and other external conferences and updates as required.
16. Deputise in the absence of other Technical Account Managers within the team.
17. Deputise in the absence of the Specification Technologists in relation to your customer(s).
Role Requirements:
Knowledge, Skills & Experience:
1. Degree level qualification in science or food technology (or equivalent experience).
2. Experience of managing technical relationships within a customer or supplier facing role.
3. Technical expertise within a wide range of food or drink manufacturing operations.
4. Experience of technical management across different areas of food or drink supply (site/supply chain/customer).
5. Comprehensive knowledge of customer codes of practice and how to implement these effectively within food manufacturing and supply businesses.
6. Level 4 HACCP.
7. Lead auditor qualifications.
8. Legal labels training.
9. Project Management skills.
