Detailed job description and main responsibilities
For the Nottingham University Hospitals:
1. To partake in clinical pharmacy duties ensuring core clinical pharmacy activities are undertaken in the relevant clinical specialty.
2. Leadership, management and divisional/service support roles.
3. To line manage and support more junior pharmacists and pharmacy technicians in the listed directorates.
4. To take full part in the 7 day shifted rota and bank holidays duties.
For the University of Nottingham:
1. To support the development of hospital pharmacy practice within the undergraduate curriculum.
2. To support the Division of Pharmacy Practice and Policy in all aspects of clinical pharmacy teaching.
3. To teach Pharmacy undergraduate students.
4. To support coordination of undergraduate teaching between hospital practice at NUH and academia at the Nottingham School of Pharmacy.
5. To act as a professional role model.
The post holder will be mainly based at: The University of Nottingham and Queen's Medical Centre Campus (QMC).
Person specification
Training and Qualifications
Essential criteria
* GPhC Registered.
* Diploma/MSc in clinical pharmacy or equivalent post graduate qualification.
Desirable criteria
* Independent Prescribing Qualification.
* Attendance at train the trainer courses or teaching qualification.
Experience
Essential criteria
* Wide previous experience (post registration) of hospital pharmacy.
* Experience of delivering clinical pharmacy processes within a hospital setting.
* Experience of day to day supervision of trainee pharmacists/technicians.
Desirable criteria
* Evidence of project work/audit/research.
Communication & Relationship Skills
Essential criteria
* Good interpersonal presentation/negotiation skills - written and verbal.
* Good communication and interaction with MDT and own profession.
Desirable criteria
* Teaching skills including supportive feedback.
Analytical & Judgement Skills
Essential criteria
* Critical evaluation skills to support drug therapy decisions and patient information.
* Able to assess and minimise risk in medicines management processes.
Desirable criteria
* Medicines Information skills.
Planning and Organisation Skills
Essential criteria
* Organised, able to prioritise own work and help others to.
* Positive thinker and problem solver.
