First Military Recruitment is working in partnership with our reputable client who is seeking a Senior Design Draughtsperson to join their team in Denham, Middlesex.
The successful candidate will be responsible for generating engineering drawings suitable for manufacturing. Effective communication with team members, project managers, manufacturing, and assembly is essential to produce drawings that are 'fit for purpose' and 'right first time'. The ability to work methodically and accurately within tight deadlines is also required.
Mentoring and development of team members may be required, depending on skills and experience.
Duties and Responsibilities:
1. Generating engineering drawings from CAD models, ensuring data is fully defined but not overdefined or ambiguous.
2. Producing, modifying, and updating 3D models, detail, and assembly engineering drawings in line with approved engineering change requests, and documenting changes using engineering change notices.
3. Designing against requirements considering cost, quality, schedule, risk, DFM/DFA, and human factors, seeking cross-functional input as needed.
4. Liaising directly with the Production Engineering Department to ensure datum and tolerance schemes align with design, manufacturing, and inspection requirements.
5. Accurately generating engineering drawings using appropriate GD&T in accordance with internal and external standards (such as the Y14 series).
6. Producing Geometric Dimension & Tolerance analysis and justification documents.
7. Carrying out part clash identification.
8. Processing Approved Drawing Revision (ADR) requests, including identifying subject matter experts and evaluating the broader impact before updating electronic drawings.
9. Using Siemens Teamcenter 11 for data control.
10. Undertaking any other duties to maintain or improve departmental efficiency, quality, and service.
Skills, Experience, and Qualifications:
* Mechanical Engineering Advanced Vocational Qualification (ONC/HNC/NVQ).
* Engineering Apprenticeship.
* Strong analytical skills.
* Proficiency in 3D CAD modelling software.
* Basic MS Office skills.
* Experience with NX 12, Teamcenter 11, ASME Y14.5 standards, or SAP ERP is advantageous.
* Solid grounding in producing engineering drawings to relevant specifications.
* Good understanding of GD&T application.
* Experience in machined components and tolerance analysis.
* Knowledge of mechanical aerospace engineering.
* Familiarity with modern manufacturing methods and processes.
