JOB TITLE: Head of Audit, Finance and Sustainability
SALARY: £124,653 - £181,610
LOCATION(S): Edinburgh, Bristol, London
HOURS: Full-time
WORKING PATTERN: Our work style is hybrid, which involves spending at least two days per week, or 40% of our time, at one of our office sites.
As a Head of Audit for Finance and Sustainability, you'll lead the development & implementation of the audit response across the Group Finance, Group Corporate Affairs, and Sustainability areas of the Group. Providing professional, independent, and outcome-focused assurance, influencing the effectiveness of the overall control environment.
Group Finance is undertaking an exciting strategic transformation journey, looking to implement a new ledger and using new tooling to support reporting and partner the business areas. You'll apply deep business insights and understanding of key risks relevant to business strategy to influence management's decisions with credibility and drive new ideas to deliver impactful audit reports. You will proactively identify areas to add strategic and sustainable value for the organisation and for our customers.
You'll build trust, respect, and confidence among colleagues across the function to develop strong relationships and higher levels of collaboration, including management of the Finance and Environment Sustainability Community of Interest.
Day to day, you will:
* Take responsibility for performing the risk assessment of the organisation and risks within their remit and collaborate effectively with other experts in Group Audit to develop and implement an integrated, risk-based audit plan.
* Make authoritative technical recommendations as required that have a significant short-term and long-term impact on the business.
* Manage relationships with collaborators including senior executives and work collaboratively with colleagues across the function, First and Second Lines of Defence.
* Monitor and risk assess business processes and activities and call out any concerns through leadership team as appropriate.
* Share insight and challenge business leadership on control arrangements, risks related to strategic change, business priorities, regulatory, legal and policy compliance.
* Promote and role model the Group's values to drive cultural transformation.
* Identify and manage talent, expertise, qualifications and progressions of colleagues within the teams required to meet the Group objectives.
* Act as a career coach, performance and pastoral (line) manager to a number of colleagues within the pool.
* Proactively identify and address personal development opportunities and create a positive learning culture based on effective coaching.
* Provide timely, direct and effective feedback that contributes to the delivery of a high-performance function.

What you'll need:
* Extensive experience of leading and collaborating with audit teams and delivering portfolio of complex audits such as; Financial Control, Finance business partnering (covering Consumer, Commercial Banking and Insurance Finance), Financial & Regulatory reporting, Group Corporate Affairs and Sustainable Business.
* Able to connect the dots between enabling activities across Financial and Non-Financial risks, in particular working with business facing audit communities on integrated/end to end audits.
* The ability to analyse, understand and communicate data as information, and to use data to drive effective audit outcomes.
* Leading and taking ownership for delivery, and championing colleagues' growth and development.
* Motivate and inspires a large group of colleagues of similar interests, or expertise around a common goal.
* Lead a strong network inside and outside of the Bank to ensure a cohesive and inclusive workforce.
* Instil trust to motivate independent working and empowers colleagues to shape and drive their own portfolios, coaching as required.
* Coach for performance, guiding colleagues to take ownership of performance and development.
* Act as a trusted advisor to a network of colleagues and professionals internally and externally.
* The ability to deliver risk and control assurance activity that is timely, impactful, insightful and valued by stakeholders.
* The ability to understand and interpret Group and Business Unit Strategy and connect audit delivery and business monitoring insights to such strategies at the Macro level.
* Prioritising your work and that of others effectively to ensure timely and value-added delivery.
