21 hours per week, flexibility is required for the post as it will include evening, weekend and overnight work due to Young Carers activities and residentials., Main tasks
* Main point of contact for all Young Carers', their families, and professionals in your designated geographical area
* Update and maintain Young Carers Database including the administration of referrals, distribution of welcome information and any other appropriate literature
* Action letters to schools in compliance with Connecting Young Carers referral procedure
* Identify barriers that prevent Young Carers engaging in events and activities and actively endeavour to remove them
* Organise regular online and face to face Young Carer events, activities and respite breaks including carrying out risk assessments, collecting consent forms, arranging transport, keeping young people and their guardians informed, organising venues, food, activities and taking responsibility for the wellbeing of Young Carers and staff
* Distribute information in a variety of formats, e.g. Google Classroom, Young Carer Awareness training, Schools Award, e-modules
* Maintain regular contact with Young Carers by a variety of methods including email, text, and social networking
* Consult with Young Carers individually or as part of a group and ensure there is an actioned focus outcome which is implemented
* Liaise with other agencies, develop, and encourage partnership working
* Signpost, refer and support Young Carers on to other appropriate agencies
* Meet with Young Carers on a one-to-one basis, where appropriate
* Be the point of contact for Young Carer grants, helping Young Carers and their families to complete the forms
Responsibilities
* Ensuring the safety and wellbeing of Young Carers is paramount when organising events
* Be responsible for the safety and wellbeing of Young Carers for the duration of all activities, events and respite breaks
* Ensure Young Carers are aware of Connecting Young Carers and are encouraged to participate
* Ensure Young Carers are comfortable and enabled to engage with, participate in and help shape the direction of Connecting Young Carers
* Deal proactively with any behaviour issues that arise on activities and breaks
* Contribute to own development by identifying training needs and undertake relevant professional development activities and training as agreed with the line manager
* Work to agreed work plans and take part in regular supervision with line manager
* Produce quarterly monitoring reports
* Manage and prioritise workload and ensure that deadlines are met
* Deliver awareness raising presentations to relevant professionals, agencies, schools, and pupils
* Maintain confidentiality, and compliance within the boundaries of Child Protection and Getting it Right for Every Child
* Comply with the Carers Centre policies and procedures such as confidentiality policy, monitoring procedures, child protection procedures etc.
* Contribute to Connecting Carers work on continuous quality improvement
* Participate in staff meetings and occasionally carryout non-recurring duties out with your geographic area.

Relevant and up-to-date working practice with children and/or young people (preferably Young Carers)
* Evidence of working with young people/children

* Good standard of education
* The ability to create effective and sustainable partnerships with families and professionals
* The ability to respond and work with Young Carers in an appropriate, friendly, fun, and sensitive manner
* Good IT skills and understanding of social media
* Excellent communication, time management and organisational skills
* Ability to work to deadlines and prioritise work loads
* Ability to produce relevant and useful information
* Ability to work flexible hours when required
* A working knowledge of Child Protection and the Highland Practice Model
* Willingness to undertake new tasks and contribute to own development
* Understanding and knowledge of the local area.
