We are looking for an enthusiastic and innovative individual to join our pharmacy team. The team at Sheffield Teaching Hospital NHS Foundation Trust comprises approximately 500 pharmacy staff working across five sites, making it one of the biggest pharmacy departments in the country.

Main duties of the job
The Pre-registration trainee pharmacy technician apprenticeship is suited to those who are keenly interested in science and the treatment and physiology of common diseases and conditions.
Working under the direction of registered Pharmacists and Pharmacy Technicians within multidisciplinary teams, Pre-registration trainee pharmacy technician apprentices will assist in the provision and preparation of medicines to meet the needs of all patients.
Through your working practices, you will apply respect and confidentiality, work well in a team, be courteous and professional, maintain a safe working environment, and contribute to the safeguarding of patients while working accurately when preparing and dispensing medicines.
This vacancy is advertised on a fixed-term contract basis for a period of 24 months due to this being an apprenticeship/training programme. The fixed-term contract status of the post holder will be reviewed in accordance with the Trust's legal obligations regarding fixed-term contracts.
A learner/applicant must be a UK, EEA, or EU resident for at least the past three years to undertake an apprenticeship training programme.
Please also note any secondment must first be agreed with your current line manager.
The apprentice allowance as specified in the Minimum Wage Regulations will be paid for the first 12 months. The rate will increase after 12 months in line with these regulations for anyone that is age 19 or over.

When completing your application please ensure that you clearly demonstrate how you meet the role criteria.
You will need 4 or more GCSEs at grade 4/C or above (or equivalent) including English, Mathematics, and Single Science and another subject.
You will complete a 24-month training program and as part of your apprenticeship, you will study the BTEC Level 3 Diploma in the Principles and Practice for Pharmacy Technicians.
The Apprenticeship will be undertaken in collaboration with Bradford College where attendance will be required on a day release basis.
You must also complete a portfolio of evidence to demonstrate your learning and skills in practice in accordance with the apprenticeship framework.
The apprenticeship will commence in February 2025, subject to satisfactory completion of pre-employment checks in order to comply with the NHS Employment Check Standards.
The trust will give you time to use your skills and help you develop a fulfilling career as well as a commitment to support flexible working and can support such things as part-time hours. These options are not exhaustive, and we would encourage candidates to state any forms of flexible working they would like to explore in their application.

Education and Qualifications
* 4 GCSEs – Grade 4/C or above to include Maths, English, Single Science, and another subject or equivalent qualifications
* Equivalent qualification – BTEC level 2 certificate in the principles and practice for pharmacy assistants and relevant experience working in a community or hospital pharmacy. Those with this qualification will have to successfully pass a science assessment test before commencing this apprenticeship.
