Job overview
The level 1 social worker post is ideal for newly qualified social workers, and the successful candidate will be supported to complete their ASYE while working on a protected case load.
The position is within the older persons with physical disability team, a community-based team working with adults over 18 years of age with a range of physical and mental health needs. This dynamic post requires the post holder to work closely with multi-disciplinary teams/agencies in addressing a range of care/support issues, promoting independence and improving the health and wellbeing of the population served.
You will have responsibility for your own case load and will work on a range of cases involving assessment, support planning, mental capacity Act assessments, appointeeships and deputyship referrals, Section 117 reviews, safeguarding enquiries, as well as complex case management. There is an opportunity to manage your own workload and diary, and you will be offered the opportunity to work in a hybrid way, being based between the office in Stafford and home working.
Main duties of the job
The post holder will be expected to access social care and health records to gather information, therefore it is important to be able to use a computer and understand the importance of good recording. You will require effective communication and written skills and be willing to work as part of a team to promote the best outcomes for individuals. You will be required to be self-motivated and organised to manage competing demands, and you will be provided with all relevant training and support in the role.

On appointment, the post holder will be auto-enrolled in the SWLA and aligned to the appropriate British Association of Social Work Professional Capabilities Framework. The relevant SWLA ‘stage’ (i.e., stage 1 (ASYE), 2 (Social Worker), or 3 (Advanced Social Worker) will also be agreed taking all prior Continuous Professional Development (CPD) and relevant experience into consideration. The post holder will be required to take responsibility for their own Continuous Professional Development.
Person specification
Qualifications & Training
* Professional Social Work qualification, DipSW, CQSW, CSS, BA, MA or Foreign qualification where certified by the Professional Social Work regulatory body
* Ensuring current registration with the Professional Social Work regulatory body at all times.
* An ongoing commitment to personal and professional development.
* To undergo appropriate training to achieve Assessed Year in Practice (ASYE)
* Good keyboard/IT skills including word processing, spreadsheets, email, and PowerPoint
* A clear understanding of and commitment to equal opportunities and anti-discriminatory practice
Experience
* Experience of working with adults and older adults with mental health needs and their carers
* Experience of social work in other user groups/settings i.e., Children and Families, Learning Disability, Mental Health.
You must have appropriate UK professional registration.
