We are looking for a Full-Time Environment Protection Officer (EPO) on a permanent basis to be based in the North East and East of Scotland working out of a SEPA office between Aberdeen and Edinburgh.

The National Rural Unit is a small team who regulate businesses within Scotland’s Agricultural sector. We are looking to recruit an Environment Protection Officer to help deliver work across Scotland’s agricultural sector. Prospective applicants should have knowledge and experience of working with land managers in Scotland’s Agricultural industry. As an Environment Protection Officer for National Rural Unit, your role will include:
* On the ground Rural DP visits and intensive agriculture permit inspections.
* Bathing Waters and shellfish growing waters affected by rural diffuse pollution.
* Assessment of soil and ground conditions for new applications for the disposal of waste sheep dip to land on behalf of permitting.
* Significant water scarcity and agricultural abstraction inspections.
* New farm structure consultations.
* Responding to rural pollution events for local EP teams.
* Out of hours response.
Respect for your expertise: This is a highly important role within our Regulation, Business and Environment portfolio which means you’ll need to be a good communicator, to build constructive working relationships with regulated businesses and consultants. You will be able to explain regulatory information in a simple concise way that connects with land managers and other audiences. You need to be well organised, willing to travel and stay away from home to deliver the team's compliance verification plan.
